Well, I likes my video games (gamerscore padded with plenty of "kiddie" games, by the way). I will typically play anything with a score written by a composer I like (ahem, top friends list). I'm also into old sacred music and unusual instruments. My non-musical interests are pretty varied. I love food and am an aspiring "foodie". I like to read about shipwrecks, bats, dragonflies, deep sea creatures, Iceland and the moons around other planets. I'm also the proud brother of American Idol finalist Phil Stacey and the lovely and talented Becke Swanson.
Musicians, non-musicians, etc.
Tintinnabuli. Also music that acts like an "atmosphere" in which to live and breathe (sorry to sound pretentious). Plainchant, "sacred minimalism" (Part, Gorecki),serialism (Berg's violin concerto) etc. I love composers and always have (check out the composers on my top friends list). I'm also very proud of my brother Phil, who is a rising star and is completely deserving of the greatest measure of success.
Instead of Movies, I'm gonna put games. I'll go with Bioshock, Mass Effect, SSX3, Half Life 2, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, Ico, Anything Tom Clancy, Hitman: Blood Money, Halo series, Portal, anything from Infinity Ward, the Elder Scrolls, Incredible Crisis (funniest game ever), and anything Zelda or Mario related, etc.
Planet Earth, Blue Planet, Bizarre Foods w/ Andrew Zimmern, No Reservations w/ Anthony Bourdain, Man vs. Wild
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, etc. Various music theory books (Schoenberg, Piston, etc.). For anyone who wants to learn about writing music I'd recommend the "Professional Orchestration" series by Peter Lawrence Alexander at truespec.com.
