You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your
table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait. Do
not even wait, be quite still and solitary. The world
will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has
no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet. -
Franz Kafka

I took a year off from school last year to travel. I
worked for a bit, bought a round-the-world ticket, and
away I went. I went by myself and had the craziest
adventures, and I now have a maddening case of itchy
feet. I went through Germany, South Africa, Swaziland,
Mozambique and Nepal. Right now I am back in Canada. I
am just finishing up my last year and a half of school
in social work. I got into a university that has a
great social work program...in Winnipeg. I had never been here prior...didnt know anyone here, yet here I am,
FREEZING MY ASS OFF!!! Anyways, it's flying by and I
can almost see the light on the horizon...
So a little bit about me...I'm a pretty independent and
outgoing gal, and I love to travel (abroad I have been
to the US, Germnay, southern Africa and Nepal). I
am also a vegetarian and animal lover (not the sole
reason for my being a vegetarian). I spent a year in
Kananaskis in the Rocky Mountain foothills working at
a resort and snowboarding everyday-it was fabulous.
Yes, I love to snowboard. I like extreme
sports and rock climbing is my latest venture. It's
pretty addictive.
Really, I quite the animal lover. I brought home two ferrets while in my second year of university, Hades and Skylla, and my roommate also acquired one as well, Ares. At this point Rebby, my dog and sidekick of 13 years, was still with us and we also had Amy's cat Darwin (also adopted during the school year)...so needless to say, we're "animal people". Rebby passed away in April. After that school year I moved back to Moncton (to save for my RW trip)and....yes, acquired a new fuzzbutt (aka ferret) who was a rescue from the spca. His name is Hermes and he's a pretty sick boy, so he gets spoiled rotten (okay, they all do). Oh, and Amy also has a new rescue--Zion. Skylla passed away in early June 2007. Casey, a nine month old belgian shepherd / australian shepherd mix from a shelter in ontario, joined the zoo in late june 2007...after only being home from my RTW trip for a week! ...and another update (no, really, I'm not crazy) I got two more rescue ferrets, Gandalf (a silver mit) and Gizmo (a sable)
