About Me

i'm gonna try not to blab on too much about what i do and don't do with my time but i'm basically chancing my arm at a few musically related ideas whilst trying to carve out a path in olde london town. all's well so far... i'm running loads of various folk and psych nights all over london (proud galleries, the lock tavern, the gladstone, the bonnington square festival) and in manchester too (big hands, dulcimer, islington mill) for more on all this see www.myspace.com/downattheredbricksi look after a few bands these days too. i was in a band myself for a bit (www.myspace.com/52408105) loved it, learnt plenty from it and am currently well proud to be representing john stammers, the monks kitchen and emma tricca... who all manage to make enchantingly beautiful music and still remain lovely folk whom i'm honoured to know. they're all in my top gang so have a listen and see for yourself. i'm also right on the cusp of setting up my own record label, the redbricks recordings.. it'll be 7's only at first with summer releases planned for john stammers, emma tricca, pete greenwood, monkberry momma, colorama and the malodies of bellafontaine.. i'll let you know more as and when it happens.it might seem weird, mostly only to any band that has tried to befriend me, that i don't accept friend requests from them when i love nothing more than hearing something new and amazing. it's not a dis, i'd love to hear your band if your good. i just find you get better results when you only get hit by folk that have genuinely chosen you to listen to their music because they have a real belief that you might be into what they do. probably because they know a little about you, by, for example, having a proper look at your profile, and by that i mean reading at least this far into the 'here's a handy sound bite about me' section. so if you think i'd like your music or you wanna play at the club or whatever, send me a message or just send a request to the redbricks site (www.myspace.com/downattheredbricks) and this way, hopefully, i'll look forward to hearing from randomers a lot more often.that'll do for now then, i feel like i've bollocked on enough but if you're a good head, into great music for the right reasons and wanna get involved in summat give us a shout. i'm sometimes pretty bad with my up keep on here but i'm trying my best and will get back to you eventually.. with a little prompting perhaps. i'm a total backgammon freak too, get in touch if you fancy a game down south, i wanna start a regular night. thanks for listening, all the best, lee g. xxx
