Taking The World By Storm

About Me

Influenced by a passion for musical creation and performance, Jay Scholl began playing in early childhood, developing a lasting talent. Inspired by an heir of family jazz roots, Jay began in music and never looked back developing into a performer and songwriter. Being in various bands throughout his teenage life, it didn’t take long before he formed the heavy metal band Triage, which signed on to Infinity Records producing the bands CD Cinder Block. In 1997, going in a different direction Jay, ( Matt Anderson ) the bassist from Triage and ( Lori Bernish ) vocalist formed the Voodoo Babies , a guitar driven, jazz rhythm and in - your face rock band adding funk and energy. They were soon one of Pittsburgh, PA’s biggest bands. When the Voodoo Babies began, they quickly gained popularity, saturating the Pittsburgh scene. Performing and touring along the east coast, the band sold out venues, along with appearing several times on national television as musical guests. Opening for major acts such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Stevie Nicks, Smash Mouth, Christina Aguilera, No Doubt, Pat Benatar and Linda Perry, Jay gained much success and recognition. Meeting more connections in the industry, in the year 2001, Jay met with Chris Camozzi, world-renowned guitar player and producer ( Michael Bolton and Maria Carey). Jay and Chris began developing and recording the CD Bloom. Released by Around Again Records Bloom became the Voodoo Babies most popular CD, gaining listeners and fans all around the world. Jay also spent time performing in acoustic acts in small clubs and coffee shops, creating a larger audience and following. Jay was hired to create and produce the musical theme for The Pittsburgh Brewing Company’s media advertising theme for football season of 2001. Jay went on to work with Trim Spa creating music for their television commercials featuring Anna Nicole Smith, this earned him two Telly Awards.
