Dear friends and fans,
After two eventful years of writing, recording, and playing our music live, The Bottom Lip has come to the end of its life as a musical entity. When we formed at the beginning of 2005 we were an unlikely mix, but we came together to make music that expressed the desire for fun and madness that we all share. We played in basement shows and venues of all shapes and sizes across Philadelphia and New Jersey. We couldn't have done any of it without the many friends and supporters that we picked up along the way. Thanks to everyone who gave the Lip our solid 2 year run.
The members of the band are moving forward and continuing to explore the limitless possibilities of music. We will keep everyone updated on the many new projects that currently occupy the time of ex-Lippers. We hope that you continue to support our new endeavors and that you never forget the good times!!!
Thanks a million

"A song by The Bottom Lip is a funny thing. Take "Free," for instance. After a minute of playful post-punk, the guitar turns to hard psych and Joe Kusy's singing goes from a commanding bark to something throatier and less controlled. The jerky "Cavernous" is similarly disorienting, spiking a mellow Sonic Youth vibe with angst-y shouts, and another song blends garage with vague prog pretensions. Despite finishing the album White Dot Warlord, the Philly group has been around only since early last year, which might account for the intra-genre flirtation. But since genres seem more and more like outdated constructs useful primarily to rock critics, more power to them." (Doug Wallen, Philadelphia Weekly)
OFFICIAL BIO The Bottom Lip is a four-piece rock and roll band from Philadelphia, PA. They formed in early 2005 after being introduced through a mutual friend; and rapidly developed an eccentric sound that blends elements of garage, new wave, psychedelic, and punk rock. Fronted by the irreverent lead singer Joseph Kusy, whose voice treads a path between David Byrne and Iggy Pop; their songs generally evoke the euphoria of youth and the immediacy of instant gratification. Drummer Vincent Alvare and bassist Evan Klinefelter pound out the furious backbone of their music, while guitarist Chris King exhibits a versatile guitar technique that ranges from ragged to sublime.
"The Bottom Lip steadfastly refuse to align themselves with any ascendant musical zeitgeist, instead drawing on an ever-shifting series of reference points. They incorporate fleeting traces of the familiar, only to abandon and deconstruct those moments, relentlessly stirring the pot. It should be clear to the informed listener that The Bottom Lip is not at all interested in consistency, thematic cohesion, or marketability. Their pop sensibilities have been purged of sentimentality and grandeur, leaving only the core; what one might call the essential rock and roll ethos. This is not to say that their music is simplistic or pedestrian. The drive toward ever-expanding ventures into experimental realms is sure to continue unabated, as it has since the band's inception.
The Bottom Lip issues no call for revival of dusty rock genres of the past. Nor does it attempt to attach itself to the coattails of contemporary fads and fashions. Yet their approach is nevertheless both essentialist and idealistic. These four young men endeavor to tap into the elusive inner spirit of rock music: exuberant, nihilistic, brazen, and unabashedly joyous." (renowned rock critic and journalist, Ethan Gerome Kibstein)
