The "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" TV Miniseries (the Chinese live-action one) is the best TV show not to be broadcast in the USA (it's on DVD). As for the best in the USA...from the limited amount of shows I watch, 24 is awesome, as are the Colbert Report and Daily Show. I also like to watch most sporting events.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong is the best book ever. Other books - which are not as good - include the Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony, Rum Punch by Elmore Leonard
