I grew up among the sort of people who'd later in my life be my co-workers. I am the granddaughter of comedian Mickey Katz and the daughter of Broadway star Joel Grey and actress Jo Wilder. Childhood dance lessons helped me get a start dancing in television commercials. After spending time with the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater in New York, I appeared in the off-Broadway production Album. More theatrical experience followed. I made my screen debut in the 10th-billed role of Cathy Bennario in the 1984 "brat pack" film Reckless. That year, I also played small roles in The Cotton Club and Red Dawn. My first real break came when I played Matthew Broderick's sister in the hit teen comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986). I loved the movie! I followed up that success with an even bigger one starring opposite Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing (87) (try maintaining your composure working with him!!): coincidentally, the film was set in a Catskill Mountains resort, the same kind of establishment where my father and grandfather began their careers. Though my performance won me accolades, my subsequent career failed to live up to its earlier promise and has relegated me to fare such as Bloodhounds of Broadway (1989) and made-for-television films like Portraits of a Killer (1996). I did a few guest appearances on some TV sitcoms and once even played myself!! All my movies are listed in "movies". Thanks!I CUT MY HAIR!! WHAT DO YOU THINK?
