Get Your Own! | View SlideshowS.N.Y.P (Street Narrator Young Poet) was originally born on the streets of Jamaica Queens, NY. Snyp knew that he would be an entertainer from a very early age. He spent his early years moving from home to home of friends and family members. While other kids minds were focused on fun and games Snyp would give all his attention to the music videos, and tuned into shows like The Box, MTV and BET. Studying the flows of many rappers and memorizing lines on almost every new song, was when he realized he had love for the art of rap. Snyp snuck tapes like Doggystyle, the Chronic, N.W.A Wu- Tang and such into his cassette player and let the lyrics blast through his headphones at night as he fell asleep. By the age of 9 Snyp knew for sure that he wanted to be a rapper.Hip hop is not just a style of music to Snyp, it's his way of life. Snyp was born into the hip hop culture. Snyp saw rapping as a way of expressing his feelings and hopefully, eventually his way out of the struggle. Snyp then gathered his younger brother and two cousins to join him and form a group. In 1993 he approached his uncle who at the time was managing the rap group Rumpletilskinz. Snyp at age 9 let his uncle know that he wanted to rap badly. His uncle saw the hunger in all four of their eyes and the dedication that they displayed. His Uncle worked with them, and made sure Snyp and his cousins rehearsed day in and day out.
In 1995 Snyp was put through the test at a club called Kama Kazi in Raleigh, NC. This was his first performance and he opened up for a group of at the time called A World Renoun,Getting the crowd to scream and rocking the stage as if in the rap game for years he was sure that this was what he wanted to do. He wanted to entertain, and that's what he did. Later in 1995 Snyp performed at another club in Raleigh called Tabloos.
They shopped for recording deals, but nothing came through. He never gave up. At the age of 15 Snyp appeared on local shows such as The Larry Pickett (a local show in Raleigh) and an underground CD called the Annihilation that dropped in 1999. His track was called I'm Ready. In 2000 Snyp along with fellow rappers from Hazardous Records were the opening act for Mobb Deep at a club called the Ritz in Raleigh, NC . During this time on the independent label Hazardous Records he also was on another independent album called One Hot Minute, which dropped in 2003. Being that he didn't get his proper recognition on the label, Snyp decided to leave and pursue his solo career. Since leaving in 2003 Snyp recorded several demos shopping for a deal. In 2004 Snyp teamed up with Tek from Smiff and Wesson and Twani Ranks from the Boot Camp Click on a track that was rocked on a Chuck T's Mixtape.
Snyp was also in a documentary film called Hip Hop Jump Narrated by Snoop Dogg, not yet released and did a interview and gave a freestyle performance on NYC's 83.1FM, being showcased as one of the rap games next big artists. Recently after laying down new tracks, Snyp was asked to perform at a political fund raiser for District 37, in relation to Councilman Erik Dilan.
As others gave up the struggle in succeeding in the rap game, Snyp continued to do his thing alone letting no one or nothing stop him. With his sick flow, originality, excellent delivery and a story to tell, Snyp is sure to be heard.
