Reinventing the wheel, one song at a time...

About Me

The current singer-songwriter-one-man-band-recording-in-his-living-room project of one Owen Sonntag, formerly of various bands and projects over the years including most recently The Shadow State. A versatile, self-taught musician, singer, songwriter, and recording engineer Owen is currently following the elusive muse god-knows-where and is perpetually aiming towards releasing a full length album within the next year. Which year that will be is anybody's guess at this point. Deciding against being too clever, Owen has elected to simply use his surname for the band name, a surname which just means "Sunday" in German. Characteristically, owing to his slightly off-center sense of humor, he plans to call the completed album "Never is a month of" and hopes you get the joke, even if it is reaching a bit. Oh, he also hates talking about himself in the third person, in fact I really think it's silly...

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Just me for now, and yes I take full responsibility for better and of course worse.
Influences: Too numerous to name properly- Johnny Marr, the Smiths, the Beatles, Duncan Sheik, Brendan Benson, George Martin, Thelonious Monk, Elliott Smith, Kurt Cobain, Nirvana, Bennett Lin (Bobtail Yearlings,) Jimi Hendrix, Trent Reznor, Nat "King" Cole, Public Enemy, Rammstein, A.F.I., RHCP, Joy Division, New Order, the Cure, the Eagles, Depeche Mode, Otis Redding, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, U2, R.E.M., Sting, the Police, James, Sonic Youth, Rick Rubin, the Pogues, Radiohead, the Verve, Bob Marley, Oasis, Chris Walla, Tricky, the Waterboys, Quincy Jones, Eminem, Neil Diamond, B.B. King, Flood, Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno, Wyclef Jean, Beck... this could go on forever. Did I mention Thrice yet? Or F. Scott Fitzgerald, e.e. cummings, T.S. Eliot, and Alfred Arteaga?
Sounds Like: Hypothetically a little like the Smiths meets Elliott Smith with a cheap knock-off of the Eagles or Beatles on backing vocals and instruments, occasionally verging toward R.E.M.-ish territory or shades of Brendan Benson, possibly recorded by George Martin in fantastic stereo. Maybe. I'd rather say "like nothing you've ever heard before!" but I don't want to get sued for false advertising this week.
Type of Label: None
