Aspiring to bring something unheard-of in the Bolivian music scene, Santa Cruz De La Sierra´s Instrumental Jazz-Fusion trio "3D Paso" found its way to local stages and festivals in January, 2005.Their musical style defies categorization since their original repertoire covers a large number of traditional and contemporary styles. Jazz Fusion is their essense, but their influences include Swing, Bebop, Blues, Rock, Flamenco, Latin Songo, Arabic and Hindu Ethnic Music, Funk, R&B, Electronic, Acappella, all these styles tossed into a unique mix that has to be heard to be fully appreciated.Numerous presentations in different local venues earned the trio a well deserved recognition among fellow musicians and the public in general. Not only their group dynamics, but also the virtuosity and musical honesty of each of the members proved to be the key of their sudden success. The band was formed by Carlos Fischer, whose virtuoso guitar playing is recognized around the country. He´s the main composer of most of the trio´s repertoire. Each one of his songs reflects the years of formal musical studies and the experience gained in his emerging career. He has studied in the best music conservatories in Santa Cruz. Later on, he spent some time learning under the wing of great maestros in Spain and Italy, which even later paid off in the form of a scholarship for the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston. In his quest for a project where musical supremacy had to be a key element, Carlos contacted Rodrigo Paz, who soon would become the trio´s drummer. One of the most wanted drummers among local musicians, Rodrigo Paz has a vast experience in music performance in all kind of styles. His virtuosity is only overshadowed by his musicality, which allowed him to play with great musicians such as Richie Zellon in Miami, where he also participated in many festivals that enriched his musical experience. He´s already well known in Bolivia for his versatility as a studio musician. He also expanded his musical education in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This later allowed him to co-write some songs and arrangements for the band. It was actually Rodrigo who suggested Dorian Méndez as the trio´s bass player, and to keep the premise of musical excelence for the upcoming project.Dorian G. Méndez has already years of experience in the music business, not only as a bass player, but also as a keyboard player and singer for various groups, most notably with "Speed". He´s won many festivals and individual awards in different categories with that and other bands. His experience and musical education grew in the years he spent living in the U.S. Based mainly in Atlanta, GA, he studied everything and anything related to sound, choral conducting, and even music production. All this experience earned him a spot in the trio as a writer and specially, arranger. In November, 2005. The trio released their first CD entitled "Pasando..." (Passing By), with 12 original compositions showcasing their unique fusion of sounds and styles. They spent most of 2006 studying and touring. They recieved great reviews for their performances during La Paz´s FestiJazz International. In 2007 they´ll be relocating to Buenos Aires, Arg, where they have the intention of producing and recording a second album to keep the fuzz
