About Me

SO WHO ARE SUNNY DAY JUNE? Since meeting in Spring 2005, Neil Allison and Scott Bahrawy soon began to realise that they had a lot more in common than their hair colour and love of nights out in Leamington Spa!
Over the subsequent summer, their friendship grew and by September, with Scott eager to learn to play guitar, Neil who had been playing since he was 8, offered to teach him.
Progress from then on was unbelievable. Deciding to avoid conventional methods of tuition, Neil taught Scott how to play guitar the way he'd taught himself. It proved to be hugely successful, and by December theyd got to the stage where they wanted to do more than recite guitar riffs and simply play along to covers in a bedroom. They had their own songs, now they just wanted people to hear them.
So over Christmas 2005, Sunny Day June was formed!
They played their first public performance in February 2006, watched by a packed Copper Pot, and supported by many friends and family, they received a amazingly positive response. This gave them the motivation that they needed to head to the studio and record a demo track, Taken My Heart, for their developing Myspace page.
Following countless more shows (including Party in the Pond 2006 and Leam N Aid 2007), the recording of follow up demos such as Blinded Sentiment, The Last Time and Any Emotion, and an overwhelmingly encouraging response to their efforts, the boys have been writing and preparing for a busy summer of recording their debut EP in the Summer of 2007 ever since.
Now, with the help of Matt Valle producing and many others, they aim to have their first CD recorded and ready by early autumn.
So hold on, hold tight... They are coming!

Influences: Dashboard Confessional, The Scene Aesthetic, 3 Doors Down, Jack Johnson, James Blunt, The Spill Canvas, James Morrison, Nizlopi and many, many more..
Sounds Like: Like every band, we have a unique sound of our own. We try to vary our style as much as we can to give our songs a fresh edge. Some songs share the same acoustic style of bands like The Scene Aesthetic, others there's a hint of James Blunt in there.. and maybe even a bit of Dashboard Confessional along the way! We take influence from many bands and these influences can be found in our own songs.. but at the end of the day, it's all about the Sunny Day June sound and that is what we are striving to create.
