About Me

Carpe diem... Since first travelling with family as a young child I have developed an insatiable wanderlust that continues to carry me to further reaches of the world. I recently spent the winter in Vail, Colorado as bona fide snowboard bum. Seasonal work keeps me busy in the Swiss Alps with outdoor ed and leadership camps and I couldn't think of any way I'd rather spend the summer. I seem to have a hard time sitting still or indoors for long durations, as if worried that I'll atrophy or get rickets. The next step is south of the Equator, as I board a plane to Peru at the start of '08. Exploration of the Amazon, volunteer work at a Bolivian wildlife refuge, and teaching in Chile should keep me busy for the next 6 months or so. Just riding the wave as long as I can before commiting to something more grounded. I do not subscribe to the western notion of success - i.e. graduating college with vocational training, finding a high-paying but unsatisfying job working for the Man, tying myself to a mortgage and dreaming of a far away retirement. Our time is short and we may kick the bucket before that long-awaited retirement, so live it now and embrace spontaneity. Pursue your most coveted dream and laugh in the face of conformity. No man on his deathbed has ever said, "I wish I would have spent more time at the office..."
