We could be not really doing anything in Columbus and be with friends." So, here we are! Every road trip for a decade, I would stop in Columbus to visit my old navy buddy. I never thought I would wind up living here, but that's what I get for thinking.I am often at a loss when people ask me where I'm from; I moved around so much as a kid and haven't stopped. Sometimes I say, my family is from New York; others, I lived in Providence last; or I'll say, San Diego. I've racked up more years there than anywhere else. Whatever pops out of my head first is pretty much moot, because the more people get to know me, the more they realize that I'm from the here and now.Yesterday's gone and tomorrow may never come.So anyway blah blah aside from the above, I have friends from every walk and can "be seen" with anyone. However, I can barely tolerate small talk. So, I'm not the kind of guy that will come up to you in a bar and strike up a conversation. Silences are not uncomfortable for me; I'm comfortable with my own thoughts, and do not need to talk to hear myself talk. I'm more of the "religion and politics" kind of guy, but I don't require any validation by spouting out my opinions. More often than not, I'd rather listen to you and learn from you. George Noory is doing a book signing in my old neighborhood, North Park in San Diego! ...At my favorite coffee shop, Claire De Lune! Hell, I lived a block away on Kansas.
I'm really quite shocked. North Park is definitely not a tourist destination--it's blue collar and away from the beaches--truely independent and industrial without pretending to be "indie"
Claire's itself is the best melting pot of people I have seen. One didn't get the cliquish/scenophile crap you find in Columbus--you could see every orientation (sexual, political, religious) and dress (punks, goths, suits, hip hop, joe schmoe, you name it)--just diverse, if not open minded than tolerant, people. You could find the staunchest republican playing chess with a tranny. The only thing people seemed to have in common was that they worked for a living, yet you would never see anyone pretending that "poor is cool"
I find it interesting that George Noory would pick such a place! It just makes me homesick. I may have to plan a road trip soon. Check out Claire's website.

I decided to slip this pipe dream down here.. - Notes: . - Unless you are an extreme extrovert, don't add me because of my interests. I don't typically start conversations except to say hello. If you are like me, then the ice just isn't going to break. Introverts need extenuating circumstances to befriend each other--MySpace isn't one. . - I deleted my drunk-adds. If you're one of them, I apologize."
