Take this survey | Find more surveysTHIS SITE IS JUST LIKE ME ..... TOTALLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION.I am soon to be divorced for a second time. I am in my second failed/abusive marriage. I am a "used-to-be" and I just try to get through each day the best that I can. I am on a journey of getting my life back in order. I have a 16 year old son, Daniel, from my first marriage, that I love dearly -- more than life itself, but I probably drive him crazy. I have found in my adult life that way too many people have become so incredibly serious. They're offended easily and become bothered, irritable, and uptight at everything and nothing at all. It seems like they're at a point where they take everything too seriously -- theirselves, other people, mistakes, plans, hassles, and life in general. They're on edge 24/7, almost looking for things to complain about. I try very hard not to be one of those people. I'm not very good at it...but I try. I also try to be "that pearl in the diamond world." I've decided to try to have a love affair with life since I haven't had much luck with humans!! All it takes is the commitment to reflect upon the miracle of life itself and to remember, each day, how lucky we are just to be alive. We're only here for a moment in time -- and then we're gone. Hurricane Katrina taught us that lesson. Why waste one second on self-pity, frustration, irritation, and all that garbage? Make the best of every moment and life will have a magical way of working itself out. Stop postponing and setting aside those things we claim are so important to us. Most importantly, stop taking life for granted!!! And, what's so wrong with wanting to feel like a kid again?? I might feel my age (or older most days!!!)...but I don't have to act it!!! (As John Cougar's song says..."Growing up leads to growing old and then to dying...and dying don't sound like all that much fun!!!) Spending time with our children/teenagers (when they let us) brings a sense of balance to our lives. It reminds us that the best things in life aren't things. When we get bent out of shape by little things...or when we are irritated at ourselves and others, our reactions (and over-reactions) not only make us stressed out and miserable, but they can actually get in the way of our getting what we want...and keep us from enjoying life the way it was meant to be enjoyed. To be too serious, too often, is to miss out on a great deal of the joy of life. Don't get me wrong...I get pissed off more often than I would like to admit... and for stupid reasons most of the time...but there are people out there with far more serious problems than me. At least my heart is in the right place and I can sleep well at night because of that. (Well, actually I can't sleep well at night...but that's another story for another day. But it's not because of my conscience...or regrets.)There is a saying that fits me perfectly that goes something like this:"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." Not just a child...but my child...Daniel. *(I'm not done here...to be continued...)*My thoughts for today (05-18-06): Life is too short to trudge through it depressed and defeated. No matter what has come against you or what is causing you to slip and fall, no matter who or what is trying to push you down, you need to keep getting up on the inside. If you want to give your enemy a nervous breakdown, learn to keep a good attitude even when the bottom falls out! Learn to be happy even when things don't go your way!!

CREATE YOUR OWN! - or - GET PAID TO TAKE SURVEYS!I enjoy watching my son, Daniel, (a/k/a "That Guy") skateboarding and such and just being his silly, goofy self with all his friends. Whether he and/or his friends like it or not...I am very involved in Daniel's life...and I try to fit in like I'm one of them. (I don't have a life of my own any more...so I live my life through his.) I am sometimes known as and/or called "That Mom," "That Guy's Mom," or "Daniel's Mom." That's cool...I've been called worse, I suppose!! I also enjoy traveling (even though we haven't done much of that lately) especially like to islands and whatnot, or snow skiing. I also love swimming and sailing. I have a catamaran although it hasn't seen water (except what falls from the sky) in years!!! I like Mardi Gras and Halloween!!! I am an animal fanatic. I especially love PENGUINS and FLAMINGOS and DOLPHINS (oh my!!!) although I don't have any as pets, (YET!!!) unfortunately. (And that's not because I don't want to!!) But, I do have an African Grey Parrot named "Rocky" (that makes a LOT of interesting noises and sounds...he can meow, call the dog, and say more words than he needs to...and then he also laughs at himself, and coughs now and then...and even blows his "nose"), a "Royal" Welsh Pembroke Corgi named "Sassy" that is the "Queen" of and runs the house (and likes to hump the cats!!!), a Beagle named "Sugar," (R.I.P. 04-07-06), three indoor cats, "P-Kitty", "Fluffer Girl", and "KuKu Head"...and a million outdoor cats (give or take a few)...but too numerous to name here. One of them I call Ms. Cooper because she has a lot of black around her eyes like Alice Cooper. (Yes, I could have called her Alice because Alice is a girl's name, too. But, I called her Ms. Cooper. Deal with it!!!)I have always been interested in being an R.N.; however, I have still (to this day) not been able to finish my courses for various reasons. I have taken most of my pre-reqs...with a 4.0 average, I might add!!! Maybe one day I can go back? Everybody needs a goal...right?

I'd like to meet:

Get this video and more at MySpace.com ............................................................ ............................................................ .............I'd like to meet God one day (although not in person anytime soon), Elton John, and someone (on earth) that will love me for me (unconditionally) and that will encourage me to be the best person that I can be instead of abusing me and making me feel worthless and hopeless and unloveable. I want someone to make me feel like a kid again!!! (In other words...HAPPY!!!) ...and who will grow "old" with me...hand-in-hand...who will give me lots of hugs!! Since you're asking (not that anybody really cares, though) I'd also like to meet Matthew Perry and Craig Ferguson -- they both seem like pretty silly people to me. I would like to have met Mitch Hedburg...or at least I wish he would not have been SO STUPID to die of a drug overdose...so he could be around for a lot longer to keep me laughing!!! ..

Music:

I LOVE anything by ELTON JOHN!!!! (My son Daniel is named after one of his songs -- plus it is a Biblical name!!!)... I also like Jimmy Buffet, Gavin DeGraw and James Blunt... and just about anything EXCEPT COUNTRY music. (Although I think a lot of Elton's music sounds a little "country-ish.") I like a lot of the older rock-n-roll (Rolling Stones, INXS, The Beatles, Marshal Crenshaw, Flock of Seagulls, Simply Red, Scritti Pollitti, David Bowie, Joan Armatrading, John Cougar, The Doors, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Journey, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Cat Stevens, Gary Wright, and so many more I can't think of, etc.) vs. some of the crap played on the radio today. I don't like rap crap. I do like a lot of the music that they play in skate videos...and I have come to like a lot of the music that my son, Daniel, listens to...like Modest Mouse, The Prodigy, Pulp, Green Day, Placebo, Johnny Thunder, Group X, The Pixie's, Primus, 3-11, The Offspring ... and so many more I can't think of their names (and probably can't/don't spell them correct anyway.) I have to ask him a million times "who is this?" and he gets pissed!!! Daniel likes SOAD a lot...but they sort of get on my last nerve and give me a headache. I can only take so much. I guess that's the age thing?!?!? The worst part is that he usually listens to them up until he gets out of the car when I drop him off for school...and even though I turn on the radio after that...during the day at work I will find my brain screaming out (not out loud thank God!!!) "Psycho, Groupie, Cocaine, Crazy!!!!" or something like that...and then I really feel like I'm losing it!!!

Movies:

The funnier the better. I love to laugh. "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" has to be one of the funniest movies every made. "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" (the scene in the Airport / Rental Car Agency) has got to be one of my all-time favorite scenes. If you've never seen it...you've got to. Napoleon Dynamite...what can I say...it's just...It's Incredible Gosh!!! I totally love it!!!! That's one movie I can honestly say that I can watch over and over again. Call me wierd, I guess. Other movies I can watch over and over again are the Monty Python movies. "It's just a flesh wound!!" or "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries." Really there are so many more...but I can't think of them right at the moment. But come visit later and I'll taunt you a second time!!! I also like just about every Hugh Grant movie ever made. Or...maybe I just like watching him? I also like most Jim Carrey movies...but not all of them. David Spade, and Adam Sandler, (the late) John Candy and Chris Farley are all pretty funny also...and just about any movie they are in is pretty entertaining. 50 First Dates was really good. I also like the Blues Brothers era . "We're on a mission from God!!" I was also very much into The Rocky Horror Picture Show craze...but I didn't go so far as to dress up or anything. More recently, I like Wedding Crashers. Me and a friend of mine in the past actually went to a couple of wedding receptions of people we didn't know!!! We didn't have as much fun as the people in the movie...but we did have our share of fun none-the-less. I do like some other movies besides funny movies...but not many. I like Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal. Didn't care for the third one so much. I liked the Butterfly Effect, and an older one called The Lost Boys. I also just recently saw Talladega Nights. Shake-and-Bake, Ricky Bobby. Right now I can't think of anything else.

Television:

The Crumbs (what happened to this show -- did it get cancelled??), Home Makeover, Wheel of Fortune, The Batchelor, 48 Hours, 20/20, The Late Show with David Letterman, Amazing Race, Local News, Friends, Nightline, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. I don't get to watch much TV...but when I do...it is usually one of these shows. Pretty boring...I know...but I don't have cable.

Books:

Ha. When time allows...I try to read as many self-help books as possible. I need all the help I can get. Unfortunately, if you know me...or if you ever meet me you will learn that obviously I must not have much time to read (either that or I don't retain much information!!!!) (About the only thing I retain these days is water!!!)I also like the Anne Rice novels about Vampire Lestat. That's some good reading!!!

Heroes:

God, Jesus, my son, Daniel for EVERYTHING he has had to live with having me as a mom -- and a single parent/role model (my depression, my inability to be a good mom (and dad) most of the time, my paranoia, my worrying, my lack of self-esteem, cleaning, cooking, money, my inability to get his dad to pay the child support he owes, etc., so we can have the things that most people take for granted, etc.), my parents (may they rest in peace) for putting up with my crazy ass for as long as they did (but not long enough), Veterans, Volunteers, Animal Rescue People, Single Mothers (like myself -- who are very seldom recognized for all that they do.)

I've met someone new...

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.  It's true that we don't...
