Living easy. Loving free. Season ticket on a one way ride.

About Me

About me(brace yourself raw honesty comming up). I am a young at heart, unconventional, non-conforming, and unique individual. I don't care what people think! I follow the beat of my own drum!! If people don't accept me as I am then too damn bad. I will not change to fit in. I like many different and sometimes unusual things, but always first on my list is my two little boys. I am opinionated and speak my mind honestly, but not to the point of being rude. I have a good (and sometimes sarcastic) sense of humor and like to make people laugh. I am spontaneous and I sometimes do the unexpected just to see people's reactions. I am a deep thinker and observer. I love music!! All music but rap(except the Beastie Boys). Hard rock and roll, Country, Jazz, Latin, Funk, and Irish folk music are my favorites (how's that for an unusual combination). I like to read. H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Heinlein, Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King, Robert E. Howard, Frank Herbert, Jack Kerouac, Herman Melville, John Steinbeck, and Mark Twain are some of my favorite authors. I'm interested in history and folklore, especially local stuff. I know a lot about Decatur (Illinois, my hometown). I could give you "the tour" sometime. I love anything Irish. Oh! one more thing about me and it's important. I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE ARE NOT OPEN AND HONEST WITH ME! I want the truth from people no matter how unpleasant they think it is, I'm a big boy and can deal. Read my blogs. They will give you a little insight into the weird and wonderful that is me.

My Interests

More than anything, I love to spend time with my little boys. I love music!! I like to eperience new and different things and seek them out. I am interested in European martial arts (Savate, Le Canne, Dans La Rue, Irish and English stickfighting, and pugilism). But sometimes I just like to sit with some music on and read. I love the whole outdoor thing. I do it all. Camping, hiking, swimming, and being outside watching a really good thunderstorm are some of my favorites. I like to cook and I'm good at it. I make my own bread and wine. I like to take road trips. I also love history, folklore, and the paranormal and the unexplained. My heritage is Irish and I love anything Irish!

I'd like to meet:

Beautiful, intelligent, sweet, unconventional, and open minded women who are not shallow or superficial.Wonder how many of those there are out there?

Music:

ROCK AND ROLL: Tool!, Cream, Flyleaf, Violent Femmes, Led Zeppelin, Garbage (Shirley Manson is hot!), Weezer, STP (but only with Scott Weiland), Alana Davis, Tom Petty, Staind, Velvet Revolver, Queen, Disturbed, Deathcab for Cutie, Panic at the Disco, The Who, AC/DC, Red Jumpsuit Aperatus, Metallica, Journey, Tracy Bonham, Van Morrison(he's Irish), 80's music, Bob Dylan, Jacob Dylan.COUNTRY: Sarah Evans, Johnny Cash, Allison Kraus, Sugarland, Toby Keith, Gretchen Wilson, Old Crow Medicine Show, and most bluegrass (I love good fiddle playin!)CELTIC/IRISH FOLK: Katie MacMahon, The Cheiftains, Clannad, Loreena McKennit, Natalie MacMasters.LATIN: Shakira(only singing in spanish), Juanes, Juliette Venegas.UNUSUAL STUFF: They Might Be Giants!JAZZ: Wynton and Branford Marsallas, Nora Jones, Harry Connick JR., Diana Krall, big band music and anything with soulful saxaphone playing.FUNK: Ohio Players, Wild Cherry, Parliment.LOCAL BANDS: The Brat Pack, Riverbottom Nightmare Band, Poprocks, City Limits, and Soul Purpose. And there is a lot more, but that's all I can remember without my CD's in front of me, lol.

Movies:

I love movies in general, but my favorite films are usually independant films, movies that don't really follow the mainstream Hollywood formula and have a real good story. But, sometimes I do just want a good old fashioned action/adventure with a lot of shoot em up and car chases. I like films made by David Lynch, John Waters, Ridley Scott, Stanley Kubrick, Jim Sheridan, and Woody Allen. I also like monster movies (the cheesier the better), George Romero Zombie movies (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, etc.) and thanks to my little men, cartoon movies. Some of my favorite films are: Office Space(!), Reseviour Dogs, Blue Velvet, Rocky Horro Picture Show, Zelig, A Clockwork Orange, Bladerunner, All the Evil Dead flicks (Ash kicks ass!)Domino (Kira Knightly is a goddess!), Gangs of New York, The Exorcist films, Forrest Gump, Pecker, Metroland, The Snapper (a really funny Irish movie), The Field (another Irish film), Sin City, Ed Wood, Saving Private Ryan, New Waterford Girl, The Shipping News, The Green Mile, The Lord of the Rings, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original), Madagascar, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth (Jim Henson's Creature Shop is the best!)The Incredibles, The Iron Giant, and anything starring, written by, directed by, or any combo thereof Clint Eastwood.

Television:

Don't really watch much TV. I think it's mostly garbage. But, I do love one show because it has so many "truisms" in it, King of Queens. Except one thing isn't very true, I don't think that a woman like Carrie would ever be with a guy like Doug. Yeah, she would love him for his inner person, right. Damn! I'm cynical!

Books:

Too many to list...

Heroes:

My hero is my Mom's Dad. My grandfather was in the 101st airborne division in WWII and fought in the D-Day invasion. He lived Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan.

Why people think Im odd.

People think that I'm odd. This is something I have lived with my whole life, but only recently have I really consciously contemplated the why's and the wherefore's of this phenomenon. People think I'...

Random Thoughts

Most blondes, aren't.   It's said that it is better to be a live dog than a dead lion. I say it's better still to be a live lion. Always look for the third option.   If you know someone who ...
