Sometimes what you do is more important than what you say.

About Me

I'm a filmmaker with a day job in commercial-making (I know, I know, forward your hate mail to my attorney, which could be 1/2 of my top 8). But I am always looking for filmmaking cohorts (for those so inclined, I'm an editor/producer of short films).

I like good beer. I'm shy in big groups of people, but come out of my shell with a little time. I don't take myself or others too seriously. I like intellectual conversations about unimportant things. I like to people watch. I love being curious about the world and the people in it. I hate missing the previews at the movies, but want to tear my veins out one by one during the commercials they have added in recent years - I wish they still played short films between features, but I understand that theater owners need to maximize their profits. ::sigh:: Consumerism strikes again.

My Interests

People Watching, Making my friends laugh and telling good stories, movies, music, food, hanging out staying in, Intellectual Property & the First Amendment, Skiing, Camping, Photography, Autumn, Walking, Reading.

I'd like to meet:

People with interesting stories to tell and new perspectives to share. Lanky brunettes with wicked jaws. Nerdy recluses and fighters for justice.

And people who find the irony of this .
People who don't give up easily.

Music:

I like a lot of some things, and a little of everything.
Radiohead, Matt Pond PA, My Morning Jacket, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Emmylou Harris, The Ramones, Band of Horses, DBT, Bowie, Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam, The Decemberists, Led Zeppelin, Little Feat, and a thousand more that are in my iPod.

Movies:

Almost Famous, Rear Window, Red, Lost in Translation, The Big Lebowski, The Maltese Falcon, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Kill Bill, Royal Tenenbaums, Indiana Jones, A Philadelphia Story, Donnie Darko, Seven Samurai, Anything with Will Ferrell and/or Steve Carell. I love Netflix.

Television:

30 Rock, The Office, Conan O'Brein, The Daily Show, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, American Experience, Battlestar Galactica, and that's just what's on this season. I watch the News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Does that make me a dork? Yes, yes it does.

Books:

Life of Pi, On The Road, Fight Club, Hero With A Thousand Faces, Catcher in the Rye, Rule of the Bone, Adventures in the Screen Trade, The Maltese Falcon, Dune, Vonnegut, Orwell, Film Theory/History Books, Aristotle, Sophocles. Cold Mountain, The Bushido Code, and a lot of nonfiction and classical things I won't bore you with - I'm surprised you've made it this far. I guess that makes you a reader too then.

Well then I will reward you with my current read: The Biography of Peter the Great & In the Wake of the Plague: The Black Death & The World It Made.

Heroes:

Orwell was a poet not so much in his means of expression as in the nature of his vision, which could strip the sprawling tangle of the world around him down to its core with the simplicity of a timeless flash of intuition (the sort of intuition enjoyed by Dionysiacs, according to Plato, or by epileptics, according to Dostoevsky, or by devotees of mescalin according to Mr. Aldous Huxley); and which then turned deliberately to the most ascetically plain tools of expression to communicate it.

Crap, what was I going to say?

I forgot what I wanted to say. I was trying to get the music I am listening to to show up, and it can't find it. Sad. Anyway, it's Son Volt, and it's good.

You and your stupid hat

10 years ago, I discovered Henry Jaglom. And his stupid hat. I probably wouldn't care that he is a jackass so much if it weren't for his hat.

Live music is best

Kings of Leon: a good band to see live. A lot of fun. Also, the Killers are pretty good live. Obviosuly, they're a bigger band, so they had a better group of people (at least in the "fun factor", but...
