I am working on my new acoustic album as we speak, which should reach www.stuburt.net around may time. The album entitled ‘New Adventures in Family’ is a fully fledged acoustic project. Stuburt will be playing Guitars/Bass and Blues Harp, as well as singing. Stuburt is joined on this project by Mr. Moon playing percussion and backing Vocals, and the odd blast of Penny Whistle. Production duties are being commanded by Peter Phillips at Northern Line Production Studios Barnsley.
Stuburt: A Brief History Lesson
Stuburt had been releasing demo tapes since late 1988, these were mix-tapes that were predominantly hip hop. In 1996 after stints in a few rock bands, he returned as ‘Revival’ for a collection of songs and performances. The mix-tape of these sessions ‘Your gonna get it’ was a trip hop journey through some Lo-Fi breaks.
In 1998 Stuburt spent some time with another band ‘Grande casino’, while also working on side projects such as ‘Mokin’ ‘Lavadust’ and ‘Junk’. When the Bands and sidelines dried up Stuburt began work on his first solo album proper. In 2001 he released ‘Exit to may day green’ and quickly followed it up with 2002’s ‘Broken bones and old friends’.
In 2003 Stuburt began work on the series of albums that have defined the Stuburt sound ever since. Mixing acoustic guitars with breaks beats and samples. With the release of steady material every year or so. ‘Alive and unknown’ also spawned the song ‘Free’ which was awarded song of the month in ‘Future Music Magazine’.
Much of 2004 was spent on the road, and in 2005 recorded ‘Razorblades and coffee tables’ his most live sounding record to date. This was further backed up by many dates all over the UK. 2006/7 was spent recording a more laid back set of songs using only soft-synths and samples from vinyl. ‘Part rural part urban’ was only released as a small batch... as 2007 also saw the birth of a two new ambitious projects.
2007 saw the birth of Stuburts first child, and also the beginning of two new albums. Firstly the 100% acoustic project ‘New adventures in family’ and a new band project under the guise of ‘Antiflow’ for the release of a raucous mix of Rock’n’roll and soulful breaks ‘Saigon sushi turbo assault’
