About Me

Hi! I'm Hendrik aka Sick Sinus. I am a disc jockey and I love to play all kinds of dance music. In 1996 I threw away my classical musical education and bought a pair of turntables. Before that I played some records at different parties, but didn't called me a deejay. In the first years I was really into drum'n'bass and breakbeats. I learned my mixing skills with Hardstep records of Roni Size and DJ Krust.
When drum'n'bass went too dark, I started to evolve my knowledge about dance music. I learned how to play HipHop and afro-carribean music, got in to deep house, nu jazz and especially into UK Garage/Two Step. From my time with hardcore drum'n'bass still lasts the love for heavy basslines and unusual rhythms.
In 2002 I left my hometown Münster and headed to Berlin. The first two years were kind of a stagnation, but I went out a lot to different kinds of dance music, learned some new friends from the breakbeat garage scene and had my first "Berlin gig" being the first male ever to play on "Femmes With Fatal Breakz".
In 2004 I've got a job at Intro magazine and Melt! festival. Obviously that helped to get more gigs, and especially to play support for well known musicians.
Most astonishing moment was being changeover dj for Aphex Twin at Melt! Festival in 2006, when the audience didn't realized for a moment if me or mr. Richard D. James was playing.
I'm still really open minded to play different sets, but when someone asks me to play at an electro party, it's the best. At those partys I love to present a mixture I call Blog Rocking Beats, which consist all that fidget and blog house stuff, euro crunk, baltimore club and baile funk, some 90s rave shit and some classic techno stuff.
For me the most important thing in deejaying is, to feel that the people get euphoric about the beats, about a melody, a bassline, an old tune, they didn't heared since years. Sometimes deejaying is to me like telling a really good joke. I like to surprise the people, just to make them smile like little children, which get their favorite toy for birthday. I try to be a party dj with the technical skills and the will to entertain like a club dj.
A dj ain't a jukebox, but it's always absolutely okay to ask for a song.
