About Me

SISTER RAY is fronted by singer / songwriter Genna Marabese.
They’re described as a fairground fantasy in the middle of a Latino funeral march, with catchy melodies and quirky vocals.
Genna, originally an acoustic songstress, traipsed the streets of London with a born painter for a guitarist in tow playing every back alley acoustic club and pub in the city. She delivered the most uncomfortable of noises her vocal chords could produce whilst the painter embellished her unhinged sounds with dissident blues infested guitar licks.
Using her dark mentally anguishing acoustic art rock as a foundation, she decided to move in a new direction, thus forming SISTER RAY.
In early 2007 Genna decided to record a collection of new material with producer Nick Mailing and it was in the recording of SISTER RAY part1 that the band met and became a unit.
Genna’s signature song writing & eccentric vocals, accompanied by Giuseppe Marabese (the painter)’s insurgent guitar style and a jarring punchy rhythm section consisting of Nick Mailing (Bass) and Dan Masters (Drums) ground together are the unique theatrical alternative rock outfit SISTER RAY.
The band have since gone on to play a number of gigs, recorded an abundance of material and built a strong reputation in the underground music scene. Heavily influenced by Bowie, Reed & Waits the band have a retro London cockney feel, delivering a raw disjointed smokey cigarette tale…
