.. You scored as Captain Kirk, You are Captain Kirk. You are driven by your ideals. You have a daring soul with great potential, but you won't get far without good friends to save your ass when you try to face down a horde of space monsters without a plan B. You are a sensualist to the extreme. Watch out for overindulgence if you still want to fit into that nifty captain's uniform.

Which Star Trek Character Are You?
created with QuizFarm.com
I'm not blessed with a glorious voice. This means I can't even do decent impressions. I've always known people who could great impressions. Let us not forget the voice I hear is different from the real, nasally one you hear. At best I can say one word, "...Well..." that sounds halfway like Ronald Reagan. The picture above is perhaps the only character I can come close to sounding like and at some point I'll upload a silly audio file to prove it. So there he is, above, one of the Monarch's many henchmen from the hit cult-show: The Venture Brothers, Number 24.

A couple new paintings are uploaded at: jacoblb.deviantart.com
Somehow, I don't know how, but I managed to create 4 paintings and then some for the month of September."For those who came in late..." or are interested in finding my latest paintings: I direct you to the web links shown way down below where two new paintings are hosted as I continue to work toward my one-painting-a-month goal.
Welcome, I started a personal goal of creating one or MORE new paintings every week (as of November 19, 2006) which later changed to one or MORE new paintings every month shortly before the year was up. (I think that change occurred around September 2007, or so.) So, all in all, at least 52 brand spanking new paintings this year. Not bad, if I do say so myself.
I changed my privacy settings(thus, my settings are on Privacy Mode for the time being) and it appears to have helped reduce the amount of porn, spam, noise, and nonsense I had otherwise normally received.
I'm a native Tucsonan and I have 2 sisters and all the rest of my immediate family resides in Tucson too. I'm happily married (8 years) with my companion of 13 years and we have two daughters.
I've enjoyed "Letter-hacking" my way into various comic books titles since the mid-90's and have had other tidbits of my poetry, writing, and cartooning (mini-comics and high school newspaper editorial, et al.) published since then.
I hold onto dear passion that I may create comic books for a living someday.
Visit the disabled hyperlinks directly below to see my paintings or for more details about myself, if you wish:

At age 18 I legally changed my name. By the way, my birth given name was not the same as what you may have known me from school.

My Interests

Art , literature , cartoons , animation , comic books , anime , computers , OTR old time radio , writing , paint , NBA , American Sign Language ASL , martial arts , video games , World War II history , DVD , podcast , special interest collector of sorts.

I'd like to meet:

You'll notice when you click on "View All of Jacob's Friends" that most folks listed there are either a comic book guru, musician, or comedian. See how pathetic I am?
People I'd like to meet? Shiny. Happy. People. Without reserve: friendly, loyal, and trusting pals. Dreamers, writers, and artists of all kinds. Preferably or ideally people of similar hobbies e.g., comic book creators or enthusiasts I may network and someday work with.
I don't mind "Friends" promoting their wares/efforts/work via a MySpace bulletin board, but please don't spam my inbox. Thanks. I deleted a local comedy club for such egregious abuse when I first started my account.

Music:

80s, Fleetwood Mac , Lindsey Buckingham , The Beatles , The Rolling Stones , Stevie Nicks , The Go-gos , Belinda Carlisle , Van Halen , David Lee Roth , Sammy Hagar , John Williams , Yoko Kanno , John Barry , Enya , Classic Rock , Classical , Swing , Yo-Yo Ma , Prince, Hendrix , Michael Jackson (don't laugh) , Ennio Morricone , Frank Sinatra , Elvis Presley , Danny Elfman , Bob Seger , Roy Orbison , Peter Gabriel , The Police , Sting , Phil Collins
And on and on. I don't listen to RAP and country music in general but I'm known to like tiny snippets here and there. The family rebel in me detests country music, I guess. I can't relate to modern rap and hip-hop, but if the language is clean I'll listen to it. Vocal music itself is sometimes a limited form of expression because it has to rhyme but modern rap is even more so because it's all about tough guys yakking to a stolen and altered beat. Do I really need to subject myself to more culturally misogynistic or angry themes IMRL? If the music plays on a classic rock station, chances are I love it.

Movies:

Alfred Hitchcock , James Bond 007 , Star Wars , Indiana Jones, George Lucas , Steven Speilberg , Superman , Harry Potter , The Dirty Dozen , Spaghetti Westerns , Office Space , The Birdcage , Grease , Xanadu , Sinbad , Jason And The Argonauts , Tombstone , Sam Raimi , Ang Lee , Pixar , M. Television:

I used to watch little or no TV and I do not Tivo, but I do sometimes bitorrent and stream TV shows I enjoy. Plus I rent a lot of DVDs.
The Office , Scrubs , Dave Chappelle Show , Heroes , 30 Rock , Veronica Mars , Smallville , The Shield , Lost , OCC Orange County Choppers , CSI , (new) Dr. Who , Sopranos , Rome , Deadwood , Dexter , Scooby-Doo , Jonny Quest , G.I. Joe , Gen 1 Transformers , Get Smart , Police Squad , Firefly , X-Files , Seinfeld , Curb Your Enthusiasm , King Of The Hill , Hanna-Barbera , Ruby-Spears , SNL , Robot Chicken , Venture Bros. , My Name Is Earl , Battlestar Galactica , 24, The Wire, Monk.
I'm a born again Trek fan (can I coin that phrase?) having only seen Star Trek movies and not their respective shows in my youth. I usually obsess or latch onto things well past their prime fads. This is especially true in regards to music!
