i enjoy background stories. my illustration teacher from a couple years ago had showed the class one of his artpieces - i didn't think much of it, but then he explained why he drew what he did. the story was about him and his wife - it seemed logical at first and then all of a sudden, he was talking about seamonkeys. *l* since then, it's one of my favorite paintings.
all different kinds of people, i'd imagine... but i think you and i both know, that this statement is only about 60% true. my style is more like, " hmm, i've known you for some time now... you seem pleasant. actually, now that my guard is down, you're quite cool." you know, accidental friendships.
i tend like anything if i've listened to it enough times (i'd like to clarify that i admit this relunctantly, not with the attitude that i'm open to all kinds of music - because i'm not). i used to have a top 5 favorite bands i was devoted to and committed a surprising amount of energy to liking anything by them. *l* i don't do that anymore. but there are some songs/albums that i will always be amazing to me. Modest Mouse "Good News for People who love Bad News" and "the Lonesome Crowded West"
U2 "Joshua Tree" and "actung baby"
Radiohead "The Bends" "OK Computer"
Brand New "Deja Entendu"
Nil Lara "Nil Lara"
Guster "Lost and Gone Forever"
Black Crowes "Amorica"
Taking Back Sunday "Tell All Your Friends"
Res "How I Do"
Ben Harper "Welcome to the Cruel World" and "The Will to Live"
Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits
The Verve "Urban Hymns"
Pearl Jam (all of it - i can't say i've been listening to them lately, but i always end up back with them)
Red Hot Chili Peppers "By The Way"
DJ Danger Mouse "The Grey Album" as for the single songs?
Jeff Buckley's "last goodbye," Mary J. Blige's "Sweet Thing," Eric Clapton's "Lonely Stranger," Benny Goodman Band's "Serenade in Blue," Mel Torme's "New York State of Mind" and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," The Postal Service "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight," Death Cab for Cutie's "Champagne in a Paper Cup," Sheila Divine's "Hum," Interpol's "obstacle 2," all of Hall and Oates' singles, Jurassic 5's "Concrete Schoolyard" and "Quality Control," Dilated Peoples' "The Platform" and "Worst comes to Worst," Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone," "Hurricane," and "It ain't Me Babe," Led Zepplin's "Ramble On" and "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do?" and because i can't really think anymore, i'm trying to convince myself there are no more songs.
