OHMYGOD! How ARE you?!

About Me

Exciting, slightly flakey, major fear of rejection, achey bones lately, skinny as hell, sensational, very creative, usually wearing fabulous shoes, easily startled. Proud papa of two adorable chinchillas.

My Interests

I'm a hairstylist at an upscale salon. I'm always taking classes, and I do as much fashion and creative work as I can... I love it. I like gardening. I make a lot of my own clothes too, but I really enjoy doing anything creative. Lately I've been hybridizing roses. Also on the list of crap I'm into; beer and wine, fabulous restaurants, my friends, travel, hideously expensive jeans, absurdly ridiculously expensive shoes, the U of M landscape arboretum and the Lyndale Park rose garden, sequins, bonfires, string and percussion instruments, your mom, green curry, tacky vinyl tablecloths, pretty hair, Angela Lansbury.

I'd like to meet:

Bjork and Tori Amos (to watch inspiration strike geniuses), Sarah Jessica Parker (to start my career as a celebrity hairstylist), Ivana Trump (they say she's lovely), your mom (obvious reasons), Carol Channing (again, obvious) Barbara Walters (would be cool to meet the woman who's met everybody) Dolly Parton (fantastic sense of humor, looks the way she wants, and takes shit from NO ONE)

Music:

abba, annie lennox, my own, bjork, bob schnieder, the bangles, old whitney houston, madonna, cher, daft punk, dee-lite, dolly pardon, erasure, emiliana torrini, frou frou/imogen heap, her space hoiday, jem, some movie composers like danny elfman, lisa gerrard, and harry gregson-williams, jonny cash, nellie mckay, the postal service, salt-n-pepa, tina turner, underworld, yma sumac

Movies:

waaaaay to many to list. heres a few in random order: clueless, first wives club, titanic, shaun of the dead, kung fu hustle, gia, clue, she-devil, moulin rouge, lord of the rings, indiana jones, death becomes her, harry potter, fargo, psycho beach party, true stories, kill bill, breakfast at tiffanys, pirates of the carribean, grease and grease 2 (michelle pfiefer rules in that movie), hedwig and the angry inch. the princess bride, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe.

Television:

Absolutely Fabulous, Sex and the City, Mary Tyler Moore, I Love Lucy, Two Fat Ladies (and a number of other cooking shows), Project Runway (current semi-obsession), Southpark, Arrested Development.

Books:

Memoirs of a Geisha, The Da Vinci Code, J.R.R. Tolkien's books, Ru Paul's autobiography, patronizing fiction, photo essays, art books, Kevyn Aucoin's makeup books, Captain Blood, Chronicles or Narnia, The Bergdorf Blondes...

Heroes:

My siblings. Sara is my mentor, touchstone, best friend. She opened the door to happiness for me and I can't imagine life without her. Holly doesn't just live, she journeys. Throughout life's ups and downs, she searches for lessons to be learned. In her heart is humankinds ultimate endeavor to reconcile our actual life with our undefined hopes for happiness. Rob is a better man than I will ever be. He has worked harder, searched deeper, faced worse, and built higher than any of the rest of us. He's a real self made man, and he inspires me to be strong in the face of any adversity. My dad has survived his childhood, the Navy, the monastery, two horrendous wives, and a heart attack and still seems to see the world through a child's eyes (when he's awake and not distracted and not on painkillers or anti anxiety drugs.)

Style and shopping in Tokyo

The shopping in Tokyo is probably the best in anyplace I've been. I spent the better part of yesterday walking around Harajuku and Shinjuku. I didn't know what to expect, but I'd been told that Hara...
