A BRIEF HISTORY OF DAN MAXWELL & HIS BAND
Dan Maxwell, like the rest of the members of his band, grew up listening to and playing music whenever he had the chance. In early 2005 Dan Maxwell gathered fellow musicians - and long time friends - Ben Lindeman and Tom Galton, and the trio began to hone their mix of original alt-country with old fashioned rock ’n’ roll. Within a year, the band headed to Woodstock with producer J.P. Bowersock (a member of Ryan Adams and The Cardinals) to record their first EP, which expressed the down to earth rock style their fanbase had become accustomed to.Since then, the group has recorded several more tracks amidst playing countless shows throughout New Jersey and the New York City circuit. Venues that have presented Dan Maxwell & His Band range from bars to recognized stages at such clubs as the Knitting Factory and The Court Tavern. It was those experiences close to home that took the quartet on a very successful first national tour in June of 2007 self-financed, self-booked, and self-promoted.
In early 2008 the group treked out to Eudora, KS to work with the staff at Blacklodge Recording (The Get Up Kids, Limbeck) on a couple of songs for a new demo. Soon after, Drew Galton joined the band, rounding them out to a four piece and bringing a new element to their live shows.
Remaining true to their roots and their influences, Dan Maxwell & His Band is about writing rock songs that can temper a bar or engage a venue.
