I am here for Friends

About Me

My headline notwithstanding, I'm the personification of mild-mannered--right up until I'm not. And I do suffer fools gladly--right up until I don't.That said, I'm kinda happy right now because I am totally in love with my guitar. I'm playing every evening, playing in my head all night, playing air guitar at work. Like today: I was in a really stoo-pit meeting, but no worries on my end, because I was happily fingering chords and little riffs. Sure, it would've been nice if this revelation had happened, say, a couple of decades ago. Ok, three. Decades. Ago. Anyway, that ship has sailed and it ain't coming back. But there's a dinghy at the dock, so I'll just have to hop on and see how far it takes me.

My Interests

Guitar, Writing, Music, Theatre, History, Science (as in How Stuff Works), Baseball-Go Orioles!

I'd like to meet:

All of the MySpace friends I've never met who have nonetheless been kind enough to grace me with an add.

Music:

Bruce Springsteen (ain't for nothin' he's The Boss), Patty Loveless (The Voice), Stevie Ray (my #1 Guitar Hero), Shelby Lynne (Soulful and poetic, Shelby kicks my ass), Eddie Cochran (my #2 Guitar Hero), Marvin Gaye, Van Halen (Edward guitar), Dusty Springfield, Raspberries (Eric songs, Wally guitar, Jimmy drums and Dave on bass--that's rock and roll everybody. Get down, and get with it.), Kylie Harris & Marcia Ramirez--a couple of those Nashville people I love, Jedd Hughes (Hot-shot, up-and-coming Guitar Hero, and a real sweetheart), Elizabeth Cook (The True Future of Country Music), Emmylou Harris, Frankie + All 4 Seasons, Fats Domino (The man is a National Treasure), Frederica von Stade, Kiri Te Kanawa, Kimberley Locke-KLo. Kelly Willis (thanks, Kylie), Rodney Crowell, Allison Moorer (thanks, Tammie) Bonnie Raitt--how much time do I have? Paul Burlison, Darlene Love, Clyde McPhatter, Ronstadt, Brian Wilson & his brothers, cousin and friends. My brother Mikey.

Law & Order (all), CSI (Vegas & Miami), Cold Case and The Closer: Love my cops. Bones and Numbers: cops + science--oh yeah. The 4400: weird science v. cops--sweet; The Wire, The Sopranos and Weeds: Ok, I love my criminals, too. The Shield: cops/criminals--one stop shopping. Also dig Nip/Tuck and House.

My Friend, Eddie Cochran

I am beside myself with joy.  I am.  To have Eddie Cochran as a friend, even in a virtual, cyber-space-tastic, 21st century sort of way is beyond words.  I was not even one year ol...
