About Me

"I thought of that old joke, y’know, the, this, this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, “Doc, uh, my brother’s crazy. He thinks he’s a chicken.” And, uh, the doctor says, “Well, why don’t you turn him in?” And the guy says, “I would, but I need the eggs.” Well, I guess that’s pretty much how I feel about relationships. Y’know, they’re totally irrational and crazy and absurd and, but, uh, I guess we keep going through it because, uh, most of us need the eggs."

I am putting the folk back into norfolk

These are just a few of my favourite quotes from the wall of the UEA library, next to my favourite desk which overlooks the lake.

'The Wind in the trees/is but a quivering semi-erection'
'VIETNAM beautiful country'

'There's no release/I'm wide awake in my kitchen'

My Interests

Nanna glasses, nanna fashion, finnish fashion, street fashion, dancing with Michelle Pashley, dressing to provoke Elsie King, shopping for ridiculous (yet Amazing) costumes with Anna No-Legs, wearing dapper clothes with Samuel, making scrap books, collaging anything that will stay still for long enough, making music, at present my main interest is lusting after gold bloomers/traditional finnish shoes/jodhpurs/edwardian boots/russian scarves/anything sold at charity shops/the magpie club/other well priced vintage shops. I'm interested in antiques, health food, Daniel Palillo, possibly getting my ears/nose pierced (but not really), living in Helsinki, reading books without obligation, creating things, sharing things with people, but also keeping happy secrets, eating boiled eggs with soldiers, dreaming of being very good at everything and knowing what my path in life will be...
Eating muesli.

The fact that I don't ever really get enough sleep, and when i do it is dream-filled and wonderful and vivid so that I can never quite remember if one of my memories is from real life or from a dream. my life is very dream-like and my dream-life is very life-like.
Thinking about memory and how it works.
Memories.

I don't not like many things, only people who patronise me, take out their moods on other people for no reason or are narrow minded or elitist. So not much then...!

This is one of my many philosophies
I love summer, when you can lie down on the grass like this :) Mostly in life I like to.....Pull faces Blow bubbles, dance, smile, dance in chairs, i love my girlies, Because you are all beautiful and amazing! : colour, laughing, festivals... ...swings... this lovely bundle of joy... also this beautiful chunk of hunk the labyrinth!!! taking pictures on other peoples camera phones! and generally being silly and gracelike.

Music:

i like folk, anti-folk, breakbeat, drum n bass, old skool, indie, jazz, soul, funk, anything you can dance to, experimental, alternative (whatever that means), hip hop, R&B, britpop, other pop. Although I have no idea how to categorise music I like so....that bit above is a bit useless.
At the minute my favourite bands are: Adem, Four Tet, White Rose Movement, Tunng, Explosions in the Sky, Benoit Pioulard, Denis Jones, Chris T-T, Antony and the Johnsons, Isobel Cambell, Broadway Project, Emiliana Torrini, Martha Tilston, Feist, The Kings of Convenience, Regina Spektor, Hello Saferide andd....many more.

Movies:

I really want to see this..... .. width="425" height="350" .. I've just watched The Idiots which was powerful and amazing and I can't describe the effect it had on me. I've also recently seen The Painted veil which I really liked. I love films which reflect life as it actually is, without the special effects and the heightened emotion: films like The Son's Room and The Green Ray which show real emotions and have linear narratives rather than being fancy. Although I do like films which experiement and play with narrative structures and stylising emotions or what-have-you. I also really love films which don't try to guide you in your emotional response, like Innocence - the lack of an orchestrated soundtrack means you have to construct your own feelings around the images shown. i find this quite interesting, especially when this makes films uncomfortable to watch, varying degrees of comfort and discomfort are needed in films - is one opinion on cinema!
On the other hand I still like these beauts:
The Blues Brothers! Amelie, Being John Malkovich, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, THE LABYRINTH! Strictly ballroom, moulin rouge (i love Baz Luhrman), The Truman Show, Patch Adams, Avoir et Etre, Dead Poets Society, The Turkish Bath, Rabbit-proof fence, Annie Hall, The Motorcycle Diaries, Brick. I really want to see The Vrigin Suicides and the new Marie Antoinette film. I love most films really although some are a bit cheesy but it only makes them funnier.
