History teaches us that nations fail when leaders fail their people. The decision to invade Iraq wit

About Me

I'm just an average guy making his way, enjoying the challenges life puts before me, in search of harmony. Learning and growing as I work through the maze that is life, looking for wisdom in everything I see. I love finding wisdom in unexpected places. It's like finding insight that has been lost for a thousand years, an artifact buried by sand and time. I've found that love is the most profound emotion, a part of us all. The energy of love can alter perception and make time stand still. It can overcome obstacles and make times of peril seem less severe. We are born of love and will return to love. It's the most natural of all the emotions, and the easiest one to harvest. Being good is more natural than being evil, so lighten up y'all. Love is stronger than hate. Don't fight it.To love is to receive a glimpse of heaven.Harmonizing heart and brain through love is what can establish a complete intelligence, a complete self, where a child can look at life and realize there are no dead ends, there are always possibilities. The greatest gift a parent can give a child during all the ups and downs of life is love........................................................ ............................................................ .......................... I'm a liberal and a Democrat and I think Republicans are, for the most part, narrow minded, unethical, science hating, bigoted idiots, who haven't a clue to what's really going on. They would much rather live in the past and hang on to ancient ideas than be open-minded and progressive. They rule through fear, just like the Nazis. They scare you with phantom threats that if you don't vote for them, the terrorists will come for your family. Who is the bigger fool, The fool or the fool who follows him? Actually, the so-called "terrorists" would prefer republicans in power, because nothing fills up terrorist training camps quicker than a bunch of Godless, blood-thirsty, war-mongering fascists that are occupying your country, stealing your oil. It is mind-blowing the lies that republicans tell. For example, "If we leave Iraq the terrorists will follow us home." Give me a break. Don't you think they could just Google a map how to get here? Don't you also think they would already be here? The only thing they want is for our sorry occupying asses to get the hell out of their countries. Republicans would rather attack intellectuals than debate the issues that they know they could never win. They think war is cool and are raising children that think war is cool too. These kids like that America is going around the world kicking ass and are all too eager to die for nothing. I say, join up, because you reap what you sow. Basically, if you want the truth from a Republican, listen to what he or she says. The opposite of what they say is usually where you'll find the truth. It's sad, but it's true. There is this sticker every crazy Bush freak around here has on their car. It's a B-52 in the shape of a peace sign, with the words "Peace, the old fashioned way" around it. What does that mean? Peace by blowing "the enemy" and his children back to kingdom come? That's sick and offensive, but I wouldn't expect anything less from the "right". They are crazy and they scare me to death. And just who is this enemy, and how do you know when the lines have been blurred between the "good guys" and the "terrorists"? Are they the innocent Iraqis or the Americans that have killed 600,000+ of them? Bin Laden (not Saddam) killed 3,000 innocent Americans, Bush killed 600,000+ innocent Iraqis. Who is the bigger terrorist, pray tell? What is wrong with this picture? I've never seen a more unamerican, hateful, Nascar lovin', lying bunch of wannabe, goose-stepping, book burning, anti-science, backward, evolution denying, morons in my life, unless you count the Nazis, which, in my opinion, is the perfect analogy for these small-minded freaks, who would rather burn books (or Dixie Chicks albums) than read them. They are like kids playing with matches. All that they are doing is moving the chairs on the Titanic, you know what I mean? Isn't it time for the grown-ups to take back over? In any given situation there are always more dumb people than smart people. We ain't many, bub. Ignorance is bliss, until you elect a lying, incompetent, unethical, immoral, idiot like Bush. His fallacy is like a disease infecting the minds of all conservatives............................................... ................................. Republicans believe that they have a monopoly on religion, which is quite an amusing thought considering Jesus himself practiced and preached a liberal philosophy. His philosophy, based in compassion, equality, inclusion, forgiveness, tolerance, peace and - most importantly - love, is 100% Liberal. For 20 years we have seen the growing domination of the radical right wing evangelicals on TV, on the radio and in the news, newspapers and magazines and in politics - claiming to own a virtual monopoly on Jesus. They have redefined what He meant and used His name to advance their radical right wing social, business, governmental, political and military agenda - or as President Bush calls it their just and righteous Crusade. I strongly object and disagree. Webster's dictionary defines a Liberal as one who is open minded, not strict in the observance of orthodox, traditional or established forms or ways. Jesus was a pluralist Liberal who taught that one need not conform to strict and orthodox views of God, religion, and life. He rejected greed, violence, the glorification of power, the amassing of wealth without social balance, and the personal judging of others, their lifestyles and beliefs. Jesus was a liberal then and He most certainly is today too. Follow the Truth.....wherever it leads you!........................................................ ............................................................ ........Thanks for the memories, you Constitution shredding war freaks. Blessed be the day when the war freaks die off and leave the rest of us alone..........God Bless "real" freedom loving, decent Americans like the Dixie Chicks. Country music is so bad it's laughable and they sure don't need the support from those rednecks. It's called the First Amendment, you stupid hicks!...................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ .........................I'm Not Alone I'm Just Blue......

Reading is great intellectual fun for your mind and your soul. Some of my favorites are: Fahrenheit 451 and The Martain Chronicles, Tom Wolfe, Hunter S Thompson, Kurt Vonnegut, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Catcher In The Rye(Holden Caufield is my favorite literary character), A Confederacy of Dunces, Wouldn't It Be Nice, by Brian Wilson, The Grapes of Wrath, The Old Man and the Sea, The Sun Also Rises, The Tao of Pooh, On The Road, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Lord of the Flies, Stranger In A Strange Land, 1984, Lonesome Dove trilogy, Where the Red Fern Grows, S E Hinton stuff.

Heroes:

My mother Carole R. Smith (her bravery's so inspiring), my girlfriend Keri Anne (her strength and determination inspires me the most), my lil brother Brandon, Michael Houser, The New Orleans Saints, and the citizens of the City of New Orleans.
