Tyler Gilbert

Tyler Gilbert is a singer/songwriter at the prime age of 21. Born in Calgary, Alberta Tyler has been involved in writing, playing and singing music since his childhood, he grew up surrounded by musical relatives in Regina, Saskatchewan. His primary training was of the guitar but he has also dwelled on piano, banjo, mandolin, bass and harmonica. Tyler accepts influences of all sorts, and believes this is key to becoming a strong diverse musician, his main influence taps are of Zakk Wylde, Bob Dylan and CCR.
He has performed mostly in Regina and small towns around Saskatchewan, some with full band and some completely solo. Tyler’s music is defined by his soulful singing with the spontaneous ability to deliver hard hitting notes when needed and philosophical lyrics layered on top of straightforward instrumentation that gets right to the point of his premeditated vision. Being fairly skilled in both guitar and vocals, Tyler can unleash the intricate solos where he sees fit. Just as his diverse influences, Tyler holds songs that consist of “made up” tales of clever metaphors to witty songs that will have you smiling.
VOS
VOS is a Canadian band hailing mainly from the prairie city of Regina, SK. The group got their name from the Dutch word "vos" which translates in English as fox, but has later been said that it stands for “various other survivors”, due to the constantly changing lineup. VOS formed in the summer of 2005 playing a Folk Rock/ Rock, original set. With a very open-mindedness to all genres of music VOS creates a diverse backing sound of thundering drums and booming bass, bringing a sound that themselves would enjoy listening to with a beer in hand.
Vos began to form when Tyler Gilbert(Vocals, Guitar, Banjo), hooked up with brother Aaron Gilbert(Drums). They later picked up John “Johnny B" Buhr (Bass) to complete VOS. After many months of hard work, Tyler Gilbert and VOS released their first 7 song Ep in August of 2008, self titled, "VOS". They received their first radio airplay with their song "Damage Done". VOS released their first single "Lost Today" in September of 2008.
Aaron later parted ways with the band to spend more time with his family. VOS then picked up good friend, Nicholas Petrowich (Drums). Nick was brought in and out for a few shows throughout the rest of the year. In mid 2009 more changes were made, with the introduction of Mark Ennis(Drums). Danny Jones was brought in on bass for a few shows, to fill in for John, who was on the road touring with Nick.
The year 2009 has proven to be a pivotal point in the music career of Tyler. By late 2009 with the departure of veteran bassist John Buhr, Tyler decided to drop all remaining band members. With his new intentions to record the new album "The Re-Session" entirely by himself, Tyler has not only decided to be solo on the album but in shows as well....
“The Re-Session”
“The Re-Session” is said to be a lot different than the first record. The biggest change in this cd is that it is to be entirely consisting of Tyler’s acoustic songs, with Tyler playing completely solo acoustic on some of the songs. There are 10 tracks on the cd, which include: Wild ones, The Way It Was, Enter The Music, Snow, Hero, Find A Way, Lead Me, Familiar Streets, Truth On Rose St. Tyler likes the slight change in music style and says that it will showcase better vocals and a softer side of things, he hopes everyone will jump on the rollercoaster of change with him.
