My Quote of the Week: "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away"
About Me
What can I say about myself to catch your interest? If you like drama, I ain't your girl...I'm a very calm, laid back person and I don't stress about much. I'm usually very happy and pleasant to be around. I like to consider myself a good friend- honest and loyal, there to lend a hand or a shoulder to cry on whenever needed. I'm a bit of a hedonist, I enjoy myself however I can and have no shame in it. I don't live with regrets...my only regrets in life are all the things I haven't done yet, and there's still time! I'm not terribly attached to material things, especially if I don't need them...my experiences in life and the people I share them with are what matter most to me...
when my life flashes before my eyes at the end, I want it to be worth watchingI'd Like to Meet...
Well I'm on myspace to keep in touch with family and friends, but I also enjoy meeting new friends, and do so as often as I can. Honest, decent people who like to keep drama to a minimum and just enjoy life. Folks who are exciting and interesting and diverse. Maybe someone who wants to see the world with me...I know there's someone out there that's right for me...would someone PLEASE point him my way? You know he won't stop to ask for directions, LOL
My Interests
Seeing the World
Traveling is by far my favorite "hobby", and the thing I save my pennies for...while other people buy stuff, I buy plane tickets to see foreign lands. I love visiting new places, and there are so many places in the world that I want to see yet...
The Great Outdoors
I enjoy spending time doing outdoor activities like camping, hiking, biking, swimming, etc...or something more relaxing, like a picnic on a warm sunny afternoon
Arts & Crafts
I really enjoy any arts and crafts...from creating glass beads to making jewelry, forming pottery to woodburning, knitting to sewing...if it involves an expression of creativity, I'll probably try it at least once.
Fantasy
I really enjoy the whole fantasy genre, dragons in particular...I have a decent collection of dragon paraphernalia, LOL...but anything involving fantasy creatures interests me
Furkids
I currently have 2 cats, a dog and a snake of my own, and I would probably have a lot more animals if I could afford to!
Music
My musical tastes vary greatly...I listen to a lot of
hard rock,
techno, and even occasionally crappy Top 20
pop. If I'm really in a dancing mood, I'll listen to some
hiphop,
reggaeton or other
Latin dance music. If I want something relaxing, I turn on some
reggae,
new age,
classical,
movie soundtracks, or other
ethnic instrumental music, like Celtic ballads, Scottish bagpipes, Native American flutes, etc.
Movies
I dig superhero flicks (
Ironman,
Batman Begins/Dark Knight,
Spiderman), fantasy (
Lord of the Rings,
Harry Potter,
Chronicles of Narnia), animated/CGI films (
Shrek,
Finding Nemo,
Wall-E), fantasy horror (
Dracula,
Underworld,
Resident Evil) but I can't handle gory torture scenes, and SOME comedies (
Office Space, Grandma's Boy, Pirates of the Caribbean) but I'm VERY particular...other genres like romance, most dumb or dry comedies and Oscar winning dramas don't interest me much
TV
House and
Heroes;
The Simpsons,
Family Guy,
Futurama and
Robot Chicken; I get my news fix from
Jon Stewart's Daily Show and
The Colbert Report; and Cesar Millan is my IDOL!!! His calm assertive energy makes
The Dog Whisperer my favorite show of all :)
Books
I found Dan Brown's
Angels & Demons and
The DaVinci Code to be GREAT reads; I also really enjoy the
Vampire Hunter D series, when I want a shorter read, and J.K. Rowling's
Harry Potter series was a phenomenal read. I've taken in a lot of Shakespeare as well, I've always really enjoyed his writing and plays.
Words of Wisdom
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait.
We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.
It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.
Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
~George Carlin
