I have a love-hate relationship with reading. Having been made to read so much stuff for courses I have developed an annoying fear of reading. If there is no one in my bed to entertain me I tend to mess around on my guitar before going to sleep rather than read. Having said that, I REALLY want to read more. Paulo Coelho is amazing. I'd love to read more of his books. + some more stuff on buddhism would be good, and some stuff to remind me why I'm a vegan could be useful when put on the spot as I often am. Theres always a million psychology books that I'd love to digest without turning a page. I loved the Da Vinci code. Must read more Steinbeck and Orwell too...oh the list goes on!
The Dalai Lama. I like him lots.
I found this quote of his posted on a friend's page recently. I love it...
"There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness"
We can all learn a lot from this man. Exiled from his own country, his followers imprisoned and tortured for "crimes" such as owning a picture of him and yet he feels no anger. Anger is not necessary to campaign for justice. A heart of pure love, compassion and mindful wisdom. You can't help but be amazed by this man no matter what your religious beliefs are...
Random map tracking thingy just for fun...It does seem to vaguely work, but thinks that people in York actually reside in the Yorkshire Dales...:
