24/7 internationalJ Sneed, born 1982 to a young single mother on Chicago's south side. As a child, Sneed took interest in many things, but realized early on that he had a passion for hip-hop and was exceptional at its musical art form known as rapping. While attending Hyde Park Career Academy, Sneed began working at a local southside mom and pop record store where his love for music grew. During high school he began to perfect his rhyme skills, writing and recording songs on a small hand held tape recorder.
Like most aspiring artist, Sneed had no realistic vehicles or connections to pursue a career in music. Regardless, he continued to rap as his passion and skills continued to grow. After high school, Sneed went off to college where he majored in Psychology and began to realize that he had a legitimate chance at becoming successful in the music industry. His urge to return home to his young son and get back to his music grew and soon after thats just what he did; returned home.
For a short while after returning to Chicago, Sneed attended Chicago State University.One-day rapper/producer Kanye West came to his Master Songwriters Class as a special guest. Sneed had the opportunity to show what he could do over a beat, and as a result his freestyle performance aired on MTV in the fall of 2005.
Sneed has performed in and around the Chicago land area in clubs such as The Wire, Rodney's, Artist's and the former night club Mr.G's. Sneed credits his influences to people like the late great Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G, as well as Nas and Shawn 'Jay Z' Carter. He also credits a lot of his success to his mother, grandmother and a host of friends and supporters. J Sneed is now ready to introduce himself to the World as one of the best and most talented artist in Hip Hop today."
