Jason Evan has been exposed to many forms of music while growing up. His father used to play anything from classic rock to classical. In his early days, he would be glued in front of the TV and would watch shows like Yo MTV Raps and BET Rap City. Throughout middle and high school, he learned to play trumpet and was on his way to mastery, until he went to college for a Computer Science degree. He then listened to the likes of Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, and Chemical Brothers.
Then June 2000 came around, when he was first introduced to the sounds of Paul van Dyk, when he released Out There and Back. Then he got his hands on a Ferry Corsten set from Oslo, Norway in 2000. Then it was Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Presents Another World. And then Tiesto's Summerbreeze. Jason finally found music he could really be passionate about.
Jason first got into DJing not by watching his favorite DJs live, but watching video competitions from DMC and ITF championships and hanging out at various lounges in Houston where nothing but Deep House was spun. What really sparked his interest was seeing Ferry Corsten for the first time. Seeing everyone get together and being with a crowd who enjoyed the music made him realize how much he missed performing and that he should pursue being a DJ.
The first few years, he learned the art and didn't play out until he first moved to Philadelphia in 2005. He's played various venues throughout Philly, Atlantic City, and has also played in New York. He is also learning the art of music production and is looking to entertain crowds throughout the world.
Although his early influences are Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, ATB, and Above and Beyond, he has exposed himself to the sounds of artists such as Gabriel and Dresden, Sander van Doorn, Ronski Speed, John O'Callaghan, Kyau and Albert, Richard Durand, and Marco V to develop a wider sound. The range of music he plays continues to expand as more and more new artists continue to emerge. At times, you can even hear his sets include other genres like House and sometimes Techno.
Expect to see more of Jason Evan in the coming years, as he's working hard to become a staple in the world of Trance!
