Sounds Like: You never know what you’ll hear at a Cody Pruitt show: a Led Zeppelin tune might mutate into Dave Matthews, then into Buffalo Springfield, then back into Zep; you may hear Baba O’Reilly done on a single guitar, or the only verse he knows from some obscure Beatles tune for that one cute girl in the back, with little or no warning for shocked and amazed fans. Cody Pruitt and his subsidiaries are therefore not legally responsible for heart attack, shock, epileptic seizure, potential harm to pregnant women and their unborn children, or heads just outright exploding due to excessive rockin’ vibes.
Cody’s influences range from the Beatles and Bob Dylan to Ian Moore, Ravi Shankur, Toots and the Maytals, Peter Frampton, Mitch Hedburg, Albert Schweitzer, Jimi Hendrix, Soren Kierkegaard, George Carlin, The Allman Brothers and Pablo Neruda. He tries to write his own material, and occasionally, despite his best efforts to the contrary, one slips out into a show. Many think that this reluctance to present original songs is due to him being uncomfortable with his writing (he’s been known to say that he could “eat alphabet soup and defecate better lyrics†than he writes), but the hesitancy is actually due to a court mandate prohibiting him from releasing too much original material at once, as the overwhelming rockiosity of a Cody Pruitt production could destablalize the entire music industry (and, it’s speculated by a team of physicists, the space/time continuum itself). Therefore, originals are presented few and far between, in order to keep the playing field level and preserve the honor of maidens everywhere.
