About Me

The Gutter Music Project started as an idea that was thrown around over many a night of experimentation and severe disappointment over the current state of affairs in the music industry. It seems the "feel good vibes and social consciousness" of the 60's and 70's have been tossed by the wayside. As a result, we were compelled to bring it back to the days of Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On" and "Trouble Man," Curtis Mayfield's lyrics of street life gone wrong, and Bill Withers' poignant tales of the human condition.
We were suffering from feelings of loss, thinking about those lost too soon: Donny Hathaway, Jeff Buckley, J-Dilla, 2-Pac, Hendrix, and so many more; and wondering when about when some soul spirits in hiding will return: Sly Stone, Shuggie Otis, and Remy Shand. We also yearned again for that chill of when you're rollin' around in your ride and take that last turn back into your own 'hood and press play on Stevie's "Songs in the Key of Life" and watch the world around you instantly become doused in color.
With the help of many talented, local Boston musicians, and a few who are just breaking the barrier into the world of creating music, we took these artists, their influences and their passion and held them up as our guiding light for our passage into the unknown. The only way we thought we could say thanks is by capturing the moments of inspiration and passing them along to the downloading world.
And so, Gutter Music was born... Pimp My Profile Pimp My Profile Pimp My Profile Pimp My Profile Pimp My Profile
