Who is Dingo, you ask. I can tell you who he’s not. He’s not your average, one-hit-wonder rapper. Simply put, he’s Dingo. Born, Enricque Dishaoun “Dingo†Tate, Dingo possesses a rhyme and delivery style unmatched by any of his musical counterparts.
Dingo gained his initial musical influence listening to the Motown records his parents played from the late 70’s. Shortly after migrating to Miami from Detroit, Dingo’s parents separated and he and both his older and younger brother were raised by their mother.
As early as the fourth grade, Dingo chose to concentrate his energies into music. His participation in the classical and marching bands lasted until his junior year in high school.
While attending North Miami Senior High School, Dingo met some friends who shared his same passion for music and Illest Real (I&R) was born. The fusion of hip-hop and down south twang had a successful 2 year stint from 2000-2002 performing at Florida Memorial College, the Orange Bowl alongside DJ Uncle Al, the Martin Luther King Parade and the annual Goombay Festival in Coconut Grove, FL.
In the mist of all this, an unfortunate set of events occurs that lands Dingo in jail for 1 ½ years. Truly, the underlying thought is that there is no recovering from this, but Dingo’s motto is ‘One monkey don’t stop no show.’ Dingo’s jail time also served as his rite of passage. A path from what was, to what will be. Here is where Dingo made the decision to not only become committed to the idea of music as a career but to make music and the pursuit of it his priority.
Due to his motivation and perseverance, Dingo ultimately gained a record deal with Rockway Entertainment from 2002-2006. He recorded a video for his first album “Old English, New Slang†and sold over 9,000 CD’s on South Beach.
Though he considered his first album a success, Dingo questioned what actions could be taken to make himself more attractive as an artist. After exploring different avenues of reinvention and enhancement ideas, Dingo went through artist development. He used a variety of self-help and discovery techniques to better understand how to benefit from all interactions with people, fans included. He also learned the importance of communicating efficiently and effectively when on and off the stage.
Dingo is currently negotiating a recording contract with Universal Records for his very own record label “Ragtime Entertainmentâ€. Alongside this, he is also hard at work on his second album “Catch of the Seaâ€, which is guaranteed to reel you in. Enjoy the music.
