The Black Atlantic is the musical brainchild of former Shai Hulud vocalist Geert van der Velde.
Started as a project with his best friend, Menno Vos (drums) it quickly turned into something more serious after Geert recorded his first song in February of 2006. The song was a Valentine's gift to his then girlfriend, now fiancee. Recording 'A Letter In Sonics' gave the project the momentum that it needed to fully come alive.
Over the course of the summer of 2006 The Black Atlantic recorded it's first song EP entitled "Send This Home" with the help of various contributing friends. This EP is slated to be released through an as of yet to be disclosed Indie label in the US in April of 2007.
In January of 2007 The Black Atlantic made it's first live appearance at the Eurosonic 2007 festival and in February went on a short clubtour of the Netherlands.
In the future you can see The Black Atlantic on tour in Europe and the UK with UK singer/songwriter Luke Pickett in April / May, the US in July and the UK (again!) in August!
