About Me

Being influenced by early 1980s hip hop and electro funk, as well as Miami's bass music scene, ELNINO was drawn to the up-tempo beats and syncopated rhythms. Showing an interest for music at a young age, ELNINO began to learn to play the drums in 6th grade. This dream was hindered by not being able to afford a drum kit. Determined to live for his love of music, he started to DJ neighborhood block parties at the age of 14 on equipment he bought from thrift stores and pawn shops. He soon became a hot commodity, playing for high school dances, community events and making mixed tapes. Using a four track tape recorder borrowed from a friend, he slowly began to hone his recording skills. He later bought his own which led him to the next level of his calling music production. Before he graduated high school, he had saved enough money to buy real equipment Technics 1200 turntables and a Yamaha RY-30 drum machine. Later an ASR-10 sampling keyboard was added to his arsenal, in no small part by production work for Roy Jones, Jr., who had just begun his rapping career. Since those humble beginnings ELNINO (then known as DJ Kid El) had become a driving force in the Northwest Florida music scene, DJing at various clubs in the area as well as local college events. In 1996 he was beginning to focus more on music production, longing for his music to crowd dance floors like the records he played. Taking his time to perfect his trade and learn the inner workings of the music business, ELNINO started his production company, Blakkroom Productions, in 1997. This company later evolved into his new imprint 414 Entertainment in 2002. To date ELNINO has produced 5 full length albums for regional artists as well as numerous tracks for unsigned and independent artists in the area. He is now poised to make musical history with his highly melodic, bass driven productions.
