About Me

My days are filled with my son Julian, baby girl Flora and husband Trace and two exasperating pugs, Willy and Samson. My sister Shirlyn is my best friend. I never thought I would move back to the town where I grew up. I was wrong.
You Have a Choleric Temperament
You are a person of great enthusiasm - easily excited by many things.
Unsatisfied by the ordinary, you are reaching for an epic, extraordinary life.
You want the best. The best life. The best love. The best reputation.
You posses a sharp and keen intellect. Your mind is your primary weapon.
Strong willed, nothing can keep you down. Your energy can break down any wall.
You're an instantly passionate person - and this passion gives you an intoxicating power over others.
At your worst, you are a narcissist. Full of yourself and even proud of your faults.
Stubborn and opinionated, you know what you think is right. End of discussion.
A bit of a misanthrope, you often see others as weak, IGNORANT, and inferior. What Temperment Are You?

Music:

Built to Spill, TV on the Radio, Afghan Whigs, Beatles, David Bowie, Nina Simone, Antonio Carlos Jobim (and the Gilbertos), Iggy Pop, bauhaus, Kate Bush, Enon, Magnetic Fields, The Feelings, Interpol, Mudhoney, Alice Donut, Elton John (you know, before the Lion King), Lou Reed, White Stripes, IQU, Billy Joel (you know, before Christie Brinkley), Oasis, Rustin Mire, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Caustic Resin, Burt Bacharach. This list is inexhaustive; it simply includes music I have obsessed over at different points. Four bands that I'm supposed to like and just can't do it: Stereolab, AC/DC, Radiohead, Guns 'n Roses. Movies:

An Angel at my Table, Vanya on 42nd Street, Les Parapluis de Cherbourg, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Grey Gardens, Hannah and her Sisters, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. I love Mike Nichols and Ang Lee something fierce.

Television:

Flight of the Conchords, Project Runway, 30 Rock

Books:

Currently: bios of Leonard Cohen and Jimmy Carter (still) and baby food cookbooks. Petit Appetit is my fave right now. I also like Atonement (Ian McEwan), everything by Lynda Barry, The Master and Margarita (Gogol) and maybe three others. Maybe.

Heroes:

Lynda Barry (and omg - she is coming to Portland next year to do do a writing workshop and I can't wait to go and drool all over her), Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Phoebe Martina
