About Me

I'm John. truly. I wouldn't make something like that up, even if just to trick you into adding me as your myspace friend under false pretenses. What do I have to gain, other than your virtual friendship?
[old banter deleted] myspace is lame. After mostly ignoring this for some time but occassionally logging on to see if some friends have written amidst the obnoxious spam I've decided to just urge real people to move elsewhere. Find me on friendster, tribe or facebook.

My Interests

socks. music. dirt. I may have the order wrong... music, then socks, and lastly dirt. music is of course the rhythm driving my thoughts, and high quality socks are just always good and comforting... essential really. dirt speaks for itself.

I'd like to meet:

not John.
brookers.

Music:

house. I do love all music but house is special. Have you heard Uncle Bonsai? You should love Uncle Bonsai. I love Yann Tiersen and Regina Spektor. I like Muse but hate Rush. I love beats and Philip Glass and lowercase music and Arvo Part and Frankie Bones and DJ Dan and Jordi Savall and Underworld and Lamb and Laurie Anderson. I consider myself an expert on almost all subgenres of electronic music, but props to Ishkur who has made a better but futile attempt to classify them (http://www.ishkur.com/music/).

Movies:

Big Trouble In Little China. okay, it's actually quite campy in retrospect. There are really so many good movies, and what does it really tell you about me anyhow?you know, Nightwatch was excellent.

Television:

again, there are a lot of good tv shows. in no particular order: Farscape, Buffy, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Veronica Mars, Six Feet Under, My So Called Life, Lost, Babylon 5, Seinfeld, The Prisoner, Strange Luck, Get A Life, Carnivale.

Books:

yes. I'm especially drawn toward the scifi space opera or singularity subgenres. Greg Egan, Peter Hamilton, Charles Stross. There are so many good books.

Heroes:

Batman
