Short Bio:
Throttlerod is a loud, noisey, heavy rock band from Richmond, VA by way of Columbia, SC. The band was founded during July of 1999 in a Columbia, SC Public Storage unit. Within a year, the band had begun touring around the East Coast and Midwest and within two years, the band had toured the US and Canada. In November of 2001, Throttlerod moved north to Richmond, VA where Chris Sundstrom joined the band filling the bassist duties. After touring constantly for a couple more years, Bo Leslie left the band to move back to South Carolina. Following Bo's departure, the band made the decision to remain a 3 piece and continued touring and releasing records until November of 2006 when Chris left the band. After yet another minor setback, the band was somehow able to trick Andrew Schneider into stepping in. Since Andrew joined the band, the group has continued doing shows and is in the middle of writing the next record. After completing 4 songs (as of November 2007), there is no doubt this will be the most monsterous release to date. More to come...
Releases: 2 EPs and 3 LPs. The latest recordings, Nail (2006); Hell and High Water (2003); and Starve the Dead (2004), are available from the band's website. The band also contributed songs for the Sucking the 70s and Sucking the 70s, Back in the Saddle Again compilations on Small Stone Records.
Over the past few years, Throttlerod has shared stages with everyone from Clutch, COC, Isis, Eyehategod, Karma to Burn, and Fu Manchu to Cyprus Hill, Kasabian, Sum 41, (no, we're not kidding about those last three), Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and Ted Nugent...just to name a few. Throttlerod will play with any kind of band, anywhere, anytime.
Festivals/TV/Video Games: the band has appeared at SXSW, CMJ, and HFestival and has had music featured on MTV, MTV2, Fox Sports to name a few. You also will hear Throttlerod on PS2/Xbox games such as MLB 2K5, American Chopper, ESPN Hockey, Big Mutha Truckers II, and NHL 2K7 (Sep 2007).
