About Me

I now get to be a stay-at-home Mom to 12-year-old twin boys, William and Samuel. I enjoyed having David in my life so much; yet when he left home (as children eventually do) I missed him terribly. I never dreamed that my desire to have another family would ever come true. David was the joy of my life.
Then I met Bill at a Celtic festival in Buffalo through mutual friends. I'd gone to the festival with a friend who kinda had a crush on him. I figured he would like her (as most men always chose her), so I was able to relax and just be myself. I thought he was funny! He was so comfortable to be around - I secretly had my own crush that night.
A few months later, we decided to get married and he treats me like a queen. He is the best there is.
The MacKenzie Prayer.
Bless a' the MacKenzies an' a' the MacKenzie childer; their sons an' son's childer and their dochiter's for a thousan' years to come.
Be ye gracious an' send doon mountains o' snuff, an rivers of whiskey.
An' oh Lord send doon swords an' pistels an' daggers as monie as the sands on the seashore to kill the MacDonalds, the Clan Ranalds, and the Campbells.
an oh Lord, bless the wee coo, an make it a big coo.
An oh Lord bless the sucklin' and make it a grand board.
An oh Lord, bless the wee bairns, Angus, Alex, an' Bessie an' Maggie an' Florie.
An oh Lord build up a great wall between us an' the Irish, an put broken bottles on the top, so they cannae come over.
An' oh Lord, if ye hae anything gude to gie, dunna gie it to the Irish, but gie it to your chosen people the Scots, especially to the Clan MacKenzie an' a' their friends.
Glorious ye are for ever more.
This prayer was found in the genealogical records of the late Father Ewan MacDonald.

My Interests

I love photography, DPChallenge, reading, movies and scrapbooking. I like to get in the car and just go driving. When Bill and I go on vacation, we love to travel back roads. Once it took us three hours to go from Bolivar to Branson - an hour and 15 minute (at most) drive.

How many have your name?

I'd like to meet:

I would have liked to have met Elvis, sat down with him for lunch and gotten to know who he was; I would have loved to have met Hank Williams Sr. I'd like to meet Elton John and Paul McCartney. I find it fascinating that someoneAlso, I think it'd be cool to meet Kevin Spacey, Oprah, and Dr. Phil.

Music:

Ricky Nelson, it is so sad that he died before his time (my favorite was a B-side song Down Home). I liked the Everly Brothers, then in the late 60s I discovered Mose Allison. A few years ago I went into Blockbuster Music to look for a CD by him. I noticed that they had a computerized system whereby one could look up cds by artist. I was checking out his name when a sales clerk came up to me and asked if he could help. I told him what I was doing, that I'd found Mose Allison's name but couldn't find a "location" code to go look at the albums. I wished I could have fallen through the floor when the sales clerk told me I was using the cash registers!

Movies:

Ah, movies! Can't say that I have an all-around favorite as there are so many. Some of my favorites are Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (anything with Kevin Spacey), Steel Magnolias, That Thing You Do, Blast From the Past, The Luzien Defense, The Right Stuff, Christmas Vacation, and of course, American Graffitti. A recent find is End of the Spear, a very, very powerful movie. Update: Cars, and Happy Feet are very, very cute!

Television:

I loved Ally McBeal when it was on. I normally like 24 in DVD format rather than weekly shows. But I'm watching the weekly show now and loving it. The disappointing thing, though, is when Bill will watch it on DVD this winter, I'll have already seen it. I miss sharing it with him. I like America's Funniest Videos, and of course, LOST! Last year, Bill and I got to go to Chicago where I was supposed to be on a program called Ultimate Blunders (on TLC it's called Share the Shame). I was told that the series was cut from 10 episodes to 6 and my episode was cut. I'm hoping that it will still be shown.

Books:

Anything by John Grisham, James Michener, Alton Gansky, Dean Koontz and Stephen King. Books that have made a profound change in my life were Power in Praise by Merlin R. Carothers, and Catherine Marshall's Beyond Ourselves. I also like most books recommended by Oprah.

Heroes:

Anyone who goes above the call of duty to help others, and shows "common sense." All those who work tirelessly and unselfishly to protect our country -- soldiers, firemen, policemen.
