Hemlok (Eric) Holmes was raised on early, raw, east coast 1980-90's beats & rhymes with a heavy dose of NWA. Never fully being able to shake it from his system, he moved south to New Orleans to witness first hand where a man's soul breathes through his instrument of choice. An infusion of jazz, deep funk, zydeco, and big band seeped into his blood stream and he repeatedly felt like he was hearing music for the first time. A deep, determined urge arose to create a sound raw and mean with the perfect melodies of music that exist within all genres. Once decided, Hemlok packed his shit and moved to SoCal where he hunted down the divinely gifted Dj Kechup. This single minded bodhisattva exposed Hemlok to a new range of sounds, styles, and beats. His debut effort, Siddhartha's Hearts Beating is immediately hard hitting with the gritty basslines and heavy drums of Dj Kechup (djkechup.com). In contrast, Hemlok's linguistic ability is utilized to simply tell stories that perfectly move within the open gaps. Having the additional experience of multiple tours and local live shows his second album is highly anticipated and guaranteed to break down doors.
