Supa Maha-San Katsu Ikuze!!

Like Paddington Bear...With an insatiable sex drive.

About Me

I've decided to be more of an arrogant douche bag lately. Let's see how this pans out. UPDATE: It works. It works real well. Other than that, hmmm... Some facts about me. When I bench press, I advance my iPod to Daft Punk's "Bigger, Faster, Stronger." I like getting drunk and listening to the Balkan Beat Box, Gogol Bordello and Devotchka. Hung over mornings driving long distance through Tennessee and Kentucky is what Ryan Adams and the Old 97's were made for. I can't speak Russian...yet. I will drink all your wine and all your coffee. Just ask my room mate. People say I look Eastern European, even though I tan very well. I hope someday to be a Cavalry Officer, as it is the province of all young gentlemen. I smoke, a lot. I have an unhealthy obsession with Japan and the Japanese, and yet I rarely find Asian women attractive. Fascinated by Turkish culture. Scholar, soldier, poet, internationalist, historian, engineer...Lots of stuff, kinda.

My Interests

Computers (pronounced "Com-pooh-ters")and stuff, gadgets and gizmos, scholarly pursuits, not getting shot in Iraq.

I'd like to meet:

People who are trying to kill me, people who are engaged in epic quests and struggles against the forces of evil and entropy, beautiful but dangerous women, ninjas, pirates, vikings, archaeologist-treasure hunters, Buddhist monks, beautiful but evil women, people who use the word "countenance," people who use the word "foodstuffs," landed gentry, people who live their lives like a Tom Waits song ("I dated a stripper in St. Louis, but she dumped me after I killed a man over a bottle of whiskey."), gypsies, tramps and/or thieves, psychics, Filipinos, knife-fighters, Filipino knife-fighters, manga-kas, blood-weepers, people with semi-legal jobs who refer to themselves as "professionals," major-generals (but only if they're wearing the big floppy hat with the plumes when I meet them), imperialists, Macho Man Randy Savage, Zach Braff, Neil Gaiman, and body-building hipsters, female friends of female friends that I have yet to alienate with drunken pawing or ham-fisted come-ons because I know there are still a few out there and I hate leaving a job half-finished, fourteen year old schoolgirls posing as local sheriff's deputies. Oh yes! And High and Mighty Color. They have to come from a land far to the East to fucking rocking your face down to nubs...of rock!

Music:

Yeah! Let's just go down the playlist in the iPod: A Girl Called Eddy, Age of ruin, Al Young, Albert React, Appleseed Cast, Aqualung, Arctic Monkeys, Art Brut, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Big & Rich, Billy Mack (I Feel it in my fingers...), Black 47, Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Blink 182, Bloc party, Brand New, The Bravery, British Sea Power, Camera Obscura, Charlatans UK, the Coral, Depeche Mode, Dido, the Dresden Dolls, Dropkick Murphys, Eels, Epoxies, Eva Cassidy, Fischerspooner, Flogging Molly, Foo Fighters, Go Betty Go, Gogol Bordello, Goldfrapp, Green Day, H.I.M., HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR (The current obsession...I love you, Maki!), the Hold Steady, Hot Water Music, Imogen Heap, Jets to Brazil, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, the Killers, L'Arc-en-Ciel, Ladytron, Lagwagon, LCD Soundsystem, Less Than Jake, Liars, the Libertines, Mad Caddies, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Morrissey, My Bloody Valentine, Nada Surf (Who'd a thought, huh?), Neko Case (Punk-country? Fabool...), Nine Black Alps, No Doubt, No Use for a Name, Nobuo Uematsu (Sephiroth!), the Soviettes, Pillows, Pixies, The Postal Service, Pulp (Thanks, Claire, for turning me on to them), Queen, Rancid, She Wants Revenge, The Shins, Shout Out Louds, Sigur Ros, Sleater-Kinney, Snow Patrol, Social Distortion, Spoon, The Strokes, Tokyo Jihen, T.I., Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (Did you know he's cool again as of his performance at this year's Bonaroo? Weird, huh?), Transplants, U2, Voltaire, We Are Scientists, Weezer, The Who, Yeah Yeah Yeah's. The iPod has Japanese language support. I've got Japanese on my iPod. Then there's also Asobi Seksu, Ryan Adams, Joanna Newsom, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Bowie...And Cansei De Ser Sexy is fun, and Shiny Toy Guns, and Cursive and Death From Above 1979...Plumtree? Calexico. Wilco. Lucinda Williams.

Ruminations on the Recent Debate Between Atheists and Believers feat. TV's Kirk Cameron

I'm on nights now, and I watch a lot of bad TV. One particular instance of this occurred in the wee hours this morning when I saw a debate between two oddly combative professional atheists, Brian "Sa...
