Nineteentwentynine is a Fashion House which started outside of an underground hip hop show, May 5th, 2005. Since this date, Alma Meza and Jasmine Jemison have been working hard to design a womens collection of couture dresses for the woman that loves to be innovative and cutting edge. Now let's talk a little bit about inspiration.... when you think of the year 1929, you may say, "hey, how would two young ladies of the 21st century know a thing about twenties fashion?" Well, we know that the 20s encapsulates a period of time where women were liberated, independent, and took major risks with fashion. It was the bootleg period, the underground society period, the art deco period; you have Coco Chanel, you have Dior, you have Tamara de Lempicka, and Josephine Baker, just to name a few. As far as Alma and Jasmine go, our individual inspiration go as follows: Alma is greatly influenced by restoration of what is classic, what is vintage, and anything that showcases art and nature in its fashion. Jasmine is inspired by the past and detail that is found in the environment. Alleys, gutters, urban areas, as well as mod and contemporary clean lines. Collectively though, we both love music and art and good food and everything exclusive. Nineteentwentynine, you should cross the velvet rope!
