I am the hermit kingdom!

About Me

-Hello, my name is Korea Hermit. I live in eastern Asia. Many people around the world call me the hermit kingdom. A hermit kingdom is a place that has walled itself physically from other countries. I am very independent, and hold a lot of power within my borders. -I currently am split between my two halves, North Korea, and South Korean who split up in 1948. North Korea, a Communist group went into civil war with South Korea which had a Capitalist Democracy. They were once united, but got into many fights and decided to split up just like Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. -Anyways, the citizens in my country speak Korean, and there is a population of nearly 75 million people. My people use a writing technique called Hangul. Many people around the world considered my silk to be the best quality in the world. Our writing was first done on wooden blocks, but by the 1200’s, we had upgraded to metal blocks. -My country excelled especially in the arts in crafts. Our beautiful and traditional fine arts can be viewed in museums across the globe. Another great innovation, the iron clad warship was first developed in my beautiful land. Other countries envy what Korea has developed over the ages. After the Empress Min of Korea was murdered in 1895 by the Japanese, we lost control of our country and the Japanese government had taken control of Korea. My people were forced to change their native language, Korean, to Japanese. Also, Korean names were changed to Japanese names. Many people revolted, but the Japanese were brutal, and killed about 7,000 people. -It wasn’t until 1945 when my country was liberated by the allied forces. I was an independent country, and had to bring back tradition. To this day, many Korean people despise the Japanese for the inhumane actions that were taken during their occupation in Korea. This is when real problems began to start. North Korea had become more and more familiar with Chinese communism, and the south did not like this. They believed in an American Democracy. More and more powerful people were beginning to follow Communist ways, and this forced Korea into civil war. -To this day, my two halves, North Korea, and South Korea are separated. Because of this separation, Korea as a whole has slowly floated away from good foreign relations.
