About Me

I'm fascinated with the unpredictable nature of life, and live for (not despite) this concept. In 'The Creative Evolution' Henri Bergson compares the power of intuition first to a city, and then to how humans discovered they could swim. "Thought in itself would never have thought it possible for the human being to swim, as it cannot deduce swimming from walking." What can we do but throw ourselves into the water? And how could I experience Paris, or Brooklyn, or Fargo without walking its streets? Art (in my case poetry) is the product of this sort of lifestyle: a direct confrontation (if not an embrace) of every uncertainty. What I 'don't know' is the stuff that makes knowing possible. Scary. Crazy. Amazing. Uncertainty enables growth, and is both the how and the why behind the creation of art.
