The Identity Theft have been described as "indie-rock at its best," "but what they have created is an identity all their own."
From the ashes of past projects, The Identity Theft have taken everything they know about making music, and poured it into what we hear now. They have created a sound that has been described as "lush, aggressive, and epic." Poetic lyrics saturate a soundscape of music that is felt rather than heard. Since their first show in 2005 at The Rave in Milwaukee, they have been gaining fans one by one, on an escalation to becoming one of the most creative, original and influential bands in the Midwest.
"We believe music does so much for so many people, and all we want to do is give something back to the scene, for what it has done for us."

The Identity Theft
"1:45"
from "A Blueprint Of The Future"

- OnMilwaukee.com - "Meet The Identity Theft, an energetic band that began as a trio back in 2005. Now down to a duo on the hunt for a third member, the band shows no signs of slowing and kicked off 2008 with the release of its nine-track EP, "Breaking Away."The results are quite pleasant. On the surface, it's indie rock at it's best, harnessing the soft-loud-soft dynamic in clever, complex ways. A deeper look reveals poignant poetry, delicate piano and ambient sounds, creating a softer, moodier soundscape. They call themselves The Identity Theft, but what Martin Moore and Brian Farvour have created as an identity all their own." - Mixtapes | Heartbreaks - "sound the alarm inside of you""The presentation of The Identity Theft's Breaking Away EP is interesting - it comes in drifting through space, picking up various fuzzy radio transmissions and senseless static. For a few brief moments it zeros in on a clear charge of rock energy, then fades back out into the void."Shut Out the World" has a classic Midwestern power-rock element about it, bringing a full guitar sound against hollow drums. "Restrictions Not Binding" has a similar feel, and "Self Contained" brings it to the next level. Singer Martin Moore's vocals take on a slightly different and more appealing tone, while bandmates Dan Stouff (bass) and Brian Farvour (drums) work to create a sound that is lush, aggressive, and epic."Pent Up Held Down" takes a bit of a departure with piano and guitar that recalls Jimmy Eat World, creating a soft spot on the EP.Though there are a few places that could use a little tightening up, Breaking Away is a strong debut from this Milwaukee, WI trio. The Breaking Away EP dropped in 2006. You can hear tracks from the disc at their MySpace page."[click here to read the rest of this interview]
- Babble And Beat Online Magazine - "Check out Milwaukee area band The Identity Theft. We like the live-feel of their songs, 'Self Contained' and 'Pent Up Held down'." www.babbleandbeat.com
- TryByDesign Studio - "The new "Breaking Away" ep by The Identity Theft, open's in an electronic soundscape."
- Big Andy Milwaukee Music Support - "This was the Identity Theft's first show, and they did a fantastic job. These guys don't look like a rock band, but their music speaks more than fashion ever could. All the members are talented and creative musicians. Their music mixes the sounds of Coldplay and Muse, but with a much more raw edge that is uncompromised by record labels and uncaringly wasted time in an expensive studio... Martin's voice has an emotional timbre that always seems on the brink of breaking, but never doing so. The Identity Theft have obviously poured a lot of heart into this band. I can see them doing great things in Milwaukee."
