The Quran(the sacred book muslims follow) is a direct revaltion from God to the prophet Muhammad(pbuh) and God using Jibrael(Gabriel) to deliever these verses of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh). So when one recites the Quran they are speaking God's word and is speaking to GodWould like to add that Allah(arabic for god) translated means God(in english).
