Plavka is best known for being the singer of Jam & Spoon, whose trance-infused pop sound dominated the international charts in the mid 90s. She toured and performed around the globe with the group, and delivered a string of hits including the world-wide Number One Right in the Night. Now she is going solo. She says, Ive been writing songs on the guitar over the past few years and I now feel an urgency for them to be heard. Many of her lyrics are about her personal experience in relationships and self-reflection. But thats not to say her songs sound overly sensitive; they might have acoustic guitar but its often to a hip-hop beat.
Plavka began her foray into music in 1993 as the lead-singer for the seminal acid-house band, Shamen, and performed on the group's UK and European tours.
The Croat-Peruvian singer has many dimensions to her, which have allowed her not only to star on Top of the Pops, but also sing at select London jazz venues. She held a residency at the night club, Annabels, singing jazz and was nominated for Best Dance Act with Jam & Spoon at the MTV European Music Awards.
Plavka is originally from LA and lives in London where she will commence recording her solo album.
