My Interests

Being a father and grandfather has been the most rewarding experience in my life. Anywhere and anything my daughters, son-in-laws, three grandsons and granddaughter are involved in interests me. I work at being a loving husband to my bride of thirty-two years. She is my best friend. Make your mate your best friend, you might leave your wife but you would not leave your best friend. Teaching life skills to young adults. Riding in 350Z, sans top. An eight iron from 150 yards. Jeep on the beach, Hammock in the afternoon. Travel to warm places. Old Dominion Basketball and Oklahoma Football. Jim Carey, Adam Sandler and John Wayne. Cooking for a crowd, I love a houseful.

I'd like to meet:

I am a five year survivor of two different cancers, a brain tumor removed in 2002 and Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2005. The different treatments, surguries, chemo and radiation have been successful so far, you know the drill. I am interested in hearing the "stories" of other survivors and the folks that love them. It is an exclusive fraternity with a tough entry fee. I think new comers to this club can benefit from our "stories" and understand more about what is happening to them and some ways to deal with it. If you have a story to tell, I would like to hear it.

Music:

Jazz, folk, rock, classical, 60's, 70's and 80s. Southern gospel, ballads and country. Playing the harmonica. I understand John Prine's view of life.

Movies:

The Grinch That Stole Christmas (Jim Carey), Pay It Forward, It's a Wonderful Life, Tommy Boy, Lord of the Rings, Fried Green Tomatoes, Happy Gilmore, Forrest Gump

Television:

News, sports and Bugs Bunny

Books:

Toilers of the Sea by Victor Hugo, Great Expectations by Dickens, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, Proverbs by King Solomen, Welcome to the Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut The Art of War by Sun Tzu

Heroes:

"There are no great men, just ordinary people who meet and overcome great obstacles" Jesus Chirst- He died for me. My dad- he taught me how to survive. Kids in the drip room (chemo). Single parents- the toughest job on the planet. "tough times do not last, tough people do"

The Question

Is There Anyone With You? The events of 9-11 were only a month old and the world had changed, it was like it had kicked off its last cover of innocence, exposing all the ugly. As I loaded the Jeep wit...
