(in their own category--nobody can do what they do!), Cee-Lo Green (in his own category--nobody can do what he can do!), A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Black Sheep, Common, Hieroglyphics, Quannum Emcees (Gift of Gab , LyricsBorn and Lateef...These guys are Incredible!), Little Brother, Styles Of Beyond, The Roots, Blackstar, Wordsworth, Punchline, Digable Planets, Questionmark Asylum (Nobody knows these guys!? and nobody's album is like "the album" hahaha!) The Procussions, Wu-Tang Clan, Outkast, MF Doom, Murs, Blue Scholars, Ugly Duckling, Pharcyde, Diverse Curse!!! I pretty much like most groups that put together something really different or clever/deep lyrics--and I know i'm leaving some out but those groups listed are always being played--and in other genres: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, System of a Down and other rock groups that rock but still have singing ability....and MOST hip hop from the early 90's--THOSE WERE THE DAYS! Great hip hop artists aren't even being heard in their own home towns!!!??? WHY?! Get Gift of Gab, Lateef & Hiero on the radio!--at least Lyrics Born is getting some play on 105 though...? Our local rock station plays better hip hop than our TWO hip hop stations....?! Never really been a fan of mainstream--with some exceptions like Outkast and Ludacris I'm freakin sick of radio's regulars! So I mostly listen to hip hop but I've always been open to listening to any kind of music!!! And please...hip hop people....if you don't know the above listed--Look into them cause you're missing out!
